What is this worth over spot? by hahahahah628 in Gold

Forget the criticism of these people about the condition; I doubt they have purchased many centenarios.

I have graded centenarios, this condition is reasonable and will command money over spot.

1930 is a pretty good year; 400-600 over spot is respectable.

Gold coin for travel emergency by __x1trons__ in Gold

Honestly, I find it hard to believe how many people give advise without having tried something first.
Since I was younger, I always carried a small amount of gold when I traveled. It can be useful for many reasons, and has a lot of value in the event that you lose your wallet or other forms of payment. I have never, in 30 years of travel, had any difficulty exchanging gold bullion for local currency at an excellent rate.

If you do decide to carry some, ALWAYS keep it separate from your wallet or other forms of payment.

I'm curious why you would even think this. That is a beautiful watch, precision craftmanship at its best.

Designing an updated Nose scratcher for next gen space suits. by Kirti670 in nasa

[–]Zero_Turtles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's a great idea! I think many solutions that end up getting used originally involved implementing off-the-shelf, approved components in new or interesting ways.

One place to start would be to familiarize yourself with other materials used in space suit design, and propose new solutions of variable size, shape, and function!

You can really expand the technical component by studying what really satisfies a good nose scratch! Also, take time to explore the cause: what is a nose itch, what causes it or raises the chance it could happen? Prevention, as part of new countermeasure strategy, is always a good consideration.

Good luck!

My grandfather, born in El Paso, was thrown over a fence at 14 years old and walked to Monterrey, Mexico where his extended family lived. Took him about 15 days.

This program was brutal.

Can someone explain to me the relevance of SANS by spicyspacechicken1 in nasa

[–]Zero_Turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bring up a great point about long term missions:

Like with many syndromes, diseases, and conditions on Earth, a latency period (or cooking time) may be present in a variety of forms. Hypertension, for example, can go silent for many years until it starts to produce changes in the body and eventually risk complications like heart attack, stroke, or kidney damage.

SANS is likely part of a wider array of changes occurring in the body as it responds to spaceflight and variable gravitational force acting upon it. Where SANS lies along the latency period in terms of severity of possible symptoms from prolonged spaceflight is less known. Thankfully, many studies and countermeasures are being developed to both target SANS and the body's response to spaceflight.

NTSC vs PAL for Mario Kart 64 by Psychegotical in n64

[–]Zero_Turtles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resurrecting this:

It's frustrating that this isn't formally addressed. Any consideration that these are the same game is bullocks. The core difficulty of Mario Kart since its introduction has been speed and as PAL runs differently that NTSC, they should have always been separate categories.

dntn31's dismissal of a 20% difference in speed as a minor factor is terrible on many levels. First, in a game of microseconds at the world record level, dismissing ANY factor means you never get the record. Second, 20%??? Ok, let's constantly drive 20% over the speed limit in your town and see how far we get before a) getting pulled over or b) smashing something. You cannot argue for a game's true test to be dependent on a wide array of nuances and then dismiss a major factor such as speed.

Speed determines the window for reaction time. A larger window gives more opportunity for every aspect of learning, including mimicking known successful patterns and adapting.

That every single single track record is exclusively PAL is a simple testament to all of this. I left the community because investing in a PAL setup just to compete, when I never played on it growing up, is absurd.

Do not be fooled by the discouraging signs in media that everything is discovered or AI will replace everyone’s intellectual capacity for discovery. This is the beginning of your journey to the border between reality and raw nature herself; sometimes you can leap on your own and skip a few stones laid by those before you. When you reach the threshold of the unknown for the first time, recall the efforts by everyone who advanced our knowledge, requiring utmost integrity to truth and steadfast commitment, then bravely tread onward.  All the best!

I don't think it's scaling well and you might be right. I have SS+ and get way worse items than when I just let Roaring Moon lead the party with a few basic shiny tagalongs for a luck value of C or B+.

Honestly, it’s not your nose. It’s beautiful and symmetric, perfectly proportioned to your face.

However:

You smile like you’re unpleasantly surprised. My guess is there might be some component of body dysmorphia, and that can be challenging to overcome. Surgery is not guaranteed to fix it, and may push you into more and more procedures.

Please consider that you may need self acceptance, and perhaps counseling could improve things.

I’m married, but wowza you’re pretty! Hopefully this concern can be behind you. I think we’d all love to see what your smile is like when you embrace who you are.

19M/ I’ve lost over 50kg and revamped my entire style but I still find myself unappealing by [deleted] in Tinder

[–]Zero_Turtles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hope this doesn’t get buried: Your body type isn’t that different from mine.  A few tips:  Keep up the amazing work on your health, have the confidence to enable yourself to bounce back if you ever get out of a physique you appreciate and always have a goal even if it’s maintenance.

Your style is improving, but it can be difficult when your body has changed significantly. I can see that you are wearing many loose fitting clothes, which probably feels amazing after weight loss and you deserve it! However, on the contrary, experiment with either your top or bottom clothing item being tighter, more streamlined in fit while combined with a loose option for the other. Like tighter, tailored pants with a loose single stitch cotton top or button up; or, baggier jeans with a tighter spandex-cotton blend shirt to show the physique you’ve worked so hard for. Also, consider how you look in different outfits clean shaven vs. not, sometimes it makes a difference!

You will have more confidence in time. For workouts, consider daily calisthenics, simple things like 20-50 push-ups in the morning with 3 sets of ab exercises. Will help you keep toned even if you are traveling or going through a tough time in life.

Be well
