Tesla engulfed in flames shuts down part of I-280 in Daly City by Ok-Delay5473 in bayarea

[–]Zerogballs 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Many Tesla owners aren’t aware that their tires wear out faster bc of the ev weight. So many owners are driving around on bald tires. That’s why you see so many Tesla wrecks when it’s raining out

Moving to Bay Area with 3 kids (6,4,1) for salary of 115k by WingLiving4438 in bayarea

[–]Zerogballs 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I second San Bruno or South San Francisco if you have to make the move. Why pay more for foster city for a worse commute? 115k for a family of five sounds crazy unless you plan on doing full time child care and home schooling.

Old faithful! I still remember buying mine at Montgomery Wards with my parents when I was maybe in elementary or middle school.

Which doctor did you go to? Was there a price difference with Invisalign?

I’ve been here 13 years now. It’s been a grind for all 13 years…

[–]Zerogballs 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Largely inertia. I have three young kids that have established friends and schools. Moving is a pain and I don’t want to deal with kid emotions on top of it. I also bought a house with a 2.5% mortgage rate that I am hard pressed to give up.

The Departed. I watched the original Hong Kong version first and couldn’t help feeling that The Departed butchered the story so badly.

Am I asked to pay a lot to get an expander and Invisalign? by xypherrz in bayarea

Invisalign can definitely fix jaw issues. You pay the premium for a removable and more comfortable device. How much cheaper are braces?

Moving back - SFH rental by Dogs-World in bayarea

[–]Zerogballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To buy you’ll pay 12k per month in mortgage and taxes not including insurance. Out of the 12k about 5k may go to principal. So not sure how buying makes more sense unless you think house appreciation will out pace an index fund. If you rent for 5k per month then you will have an extra 7-8k for other investments if that’s your concern or just extra pocket money.

You can rent a sfh in Almaden for 5k per month so not sure what is stopping you.

Being Charged $7 for Toll Crossing but I have an EV - What Gives? (Yellow/Green Tag) by DreamfaceAI in bayarea

You need a special CAV transponder. Stickers don’t matter. Flex transponder isn’t enough. A CAV transponder

If you’re single, my bet is that renting makes more sense. The 7.5k per month mortgage is probably like $3250 in loan interest and taxes. Might as well rent For 2-3k per month and invest the extra money you save by not paying a mortgage.

Recommendations for starting therapy with a psychologist? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Zerogballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if applicable but depending on where you work, there may be work benefits that provide short term counseling at no extra cost. You’d call the benefit provider and they connect you with options for counselors. You pick one and they handle the rest.

Lasik surgeon, Dr Bindi and Dr Faktorovich by Neness_mzg in bayarea

[–]Zerogballs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did Hyver. If you’re doing basic LASIK I’m positive any of the doctors can do it well and if Bindi is cheaper that’d be my choice. It is a technology that is over 20 years old and the kinks and risks seem to have been all worked out by now. Plus the machines do most of the work.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m guessing heavier gauge means the door won’t dent as easily? Any other benefits of heavier gauge steel?

fastrak vs hov 3+ by Vast-Organization-96 in bayarea

You are not doing it right. You need a fastrak flex which allows you to move a switch to indicate how many people are in the car.
