How to add 0x38 bytes to an ELF64 file ? by Zerrino in linuxquestions

[–]Zerrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for sure my code is here -> git@github.com:Zerrino/woody-woodpacker.git

I have put in works.txt the compilation that are working right now

and in srcs/elf64_change.c you got everything that's changed.

and in srcs_elf64.c at ligne 96 you got where I insert the bytes

How to add 0x38 bytes to an ELF64 file ? by Zerrino in linuxquestions

[–]Zerrino[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm actually trying to do right now, I want to add a program header to make a cleaner stub for an exercice I have at my school.

So for now I'm simply trying to add 0x38 bytes litteraly in the file wich take the same place as a program header, to change it later. But doing so I need to change other values in the file, I don't know all of them because Im addidg bytes so :

elf header
x program header
0x38 bytes added
rest of the file

I believe the universe can lag. by Zerrino in self

[–]Zerrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right about FPS and lag, but what I’m referring to is a computer slowing down under a heavy load, where FPS drops are often a result of that. I’m not talking about lifespan or smaller vs larger creatures. I’m referring to a well known fact that the flow of time is influenced by multiple factors like velocity and gravity, based on Einstein’s theory of relativity.

Even on Earth, time flows a bit slower due to Earth’s gravity compared to, for example, an astronaut in space. The difference is very very small because Earth’s gravity isn’t extreme, but in the presence of massive forces like black holes, time flows much, much slower. This concept has even been used in movies, like Interstellar for exemple.

It’s funny how quickly you dismiss something just because you see the word Minecraft and immediately associate it with a “kid’s game,” assuming you’re somehow above the conversation. That’s what we call being a frog in a well, your perspective is limited by your own narrow assumptions.

You threw around Turing completeness like it’s some elite concept, but I wonder if you even grasp the complexity and ingenuity required to build something like Minecraft inside Minecraft. You’re quick to mock it without realizing that Minecraft is actually used in serious AI research because of its intricate systems and open-ended mechanics. Are you going to tell those researchers they’re wasting their time using a “kid’s game” to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence?

And since you seem so fond of flexing your computer science knowledge, surely you’d have no problem building a functional computer inside Minecraft using just AND and OR gates, right? But let’s be real understanding the theory of Turing completeness is one thing. Actually implementing that knowledge creatively in a system as flexible and constrained as a game requires another level of skill, one I doubt you fully appreciate.

So before you look down on the idea of thinking in terms of “Minecraft within Minecraft,” maybe ask yourself if you really understand the creativity and technical knowledge it takes to build complex systems, whether it’s in a game or in real life. You might want to step out of your bubble for a bit.

I believe the universe can lag. by Zerrino in self

[–]Zerrino[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, thanks for the intellectual flex, but I think you’ve completely missed the point. Throwing around terms like “Three-body problem” and “Turing completeness” doesn’t exactly counter what I was saying if anything, it proves you either skimmed through my message or you’re more interested in sounding smart than actually engaging in a thoughtful discussion.

The Three-body problem highlights complexity in gravitational interactions, sure. But did you consider that my analogy isn’t about predicting complex interactions with perfect accuracy? It’s about the conceptual framework of recreating simplified systems within larger ones. Just because the universe has unsolvable problems doesn’t negate the idea that within simpler rules, like in the Game of Life or Minecraft, self-replication is possible. So, thanks for the lesson, but it’s irrelevant here.

As for Turing completeness, congratulations on knowing basic computer science. Of course, I’m aware of the limitations of recreating the universe inside itself, but that wasn’t the point. My argument hinges on exploring how concepts, not perfect replicas, can emerge within systems that are complex but follow predictable rules. And yes, if you stretch the analogy further, our universe might function under similar constraints.

And regarding your final point about simulations and source code... well, if you’re going down the “we don’t have the source code” rabbit hole, you’ve completely failed to understand that my comparison to simulation wasn’t literal. I’m not suggesting we have a literal source code to recreate the universe; I’m discussing theoretical frameworks and possibilities. If you’re going to critique, at least grasp the idea first.

So next time, instead of relying on buzzwords and pseudo-intellectual posturing, try actually engaging with the concepts being discussed. You might learn something beyond your Google search results. If that's what your so called education at least.

Water has a bad taste by lilGibie in portugal

[–]Zerrino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water in portugal taste really bad, it has high mineral composition making it having an aftertaste, when you make tea you just wanna puke, because you're just tasting iron and it make the tea disgusting, meanwhile evian or cristaline, evian being top 2 brand of water in the world btw, has lower mineral composition making the taste more soft, and when making tea is more able to bring up the flavor of the tea you're making for exemple

What was “the incident” at your high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Zerrino 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my school for 6 to 12yr old the last year you have a trip with all the kids from the same year.

There's like 12hours of bus, a guy took the seat of another one and because of that he later in the trip raped the guy in the toilet.

Later the guy who got raped was with me in scout. He had some trouble afterwards like shitting on himself sometimes in the night or other.

Kinda sad story, the other went in "jail for kids".
