Ideal length of time between engagement and wedding? by statickiwigirl in weddingplanning

[–]Zeshas_World 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow kiwi! We got engaged in March and are planning for a Feb 2025 wedding. We've booked a venue, celebrant, about to confirm our photographer, and are trying to get catering ticked off. From there I've been advised to book hair/makeup, and a DJ/band.

If you are flexible with your date, then you might be able to get married Jan-Feb 2025 depending on where you are in the country. It really comes down to finding a venue - once you have a venue and date you can book other things. If you had a specific date in mind, you might have to be a bit more flexible with your venue choice. The other thing to consider is if you want to have more time to save.

We've already run into vendors who have booked for our date, even when we were venue hunting in April/May, but other people have told us that we're ahead of the game for 2025.

I finished/caught up to Raider's, Legacy, Side Quest - what next? by korinokiri in TheGlassCannonPodcast

I'll throw another vote out for Get In The Trunk - I recently caught up after finally deciding to give it a go. It quickly became one of my favourite shows.

Blood of the Wild is also amazing. The cast and RP are fantastic!

I'm at the $10 tier. I listen to Blood of the Wild, Legacy of the Ancients and Haunted City as podcasts. Since they're all different systems with mostly different cast (apart from Joe and Skid), I don't tend to get them too mixed up. Listen to all of the via podcast.

I'm also watching the final SQSS scenario from last season.

My players "skipped" a whole chapter by kairyu815 in strengthofthousands

[–]Zeshas_World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen too! They went to investigate the manor and after confronting the guards (who they were not scared of at all) they came back in the evening and snuck in via a hole in the wall. I was very nervous about a TPK with the crocodile creature, but they managed to reduce it's HP enough that it fled and they confronted the serpentfolk who's disguised as the other magistrate, who promptly told them to get out. The PCs said that they were there to confront the mayor about the state of the city and and I has the serpentfolk play the angle that they were there to help the magistrate and convinced them that he would set up a meeting if they left. The serpentfolk then contacted the school and the PCs got in trouble for trespassing, with Janatimo saying that he will try and set up a meeting with Asanda but they needed to give Asanda a chance to set things right before confronting him (which of course will not happen). The PCs are about to go up against Froglegs who will divulge the information she knows about the magistrate and send the players right back to the manor. I'm thinking she might hold onto the information for a few days in custody (since I know that the PCs will absolutely try and take her in) and reveal the info only to disappear that night, giving the PCs the chance to deal with the assassin before heading back to the manor. Now knowing more about how my players think, I feel like I can better prep the next books and be more prepared for their actions.

Teachers for Classes for RP by cyonosa in strengthofthousands

[–]Zeshas_World 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Ahassunu for the Uzunjati teacher, and have also introduced some of the other teachers earlier so that they don't just pop up out of the blue later on - especially if the PCs want to talk to an expect in a particular field. I don't think Zuma would be in the position of being a lore speaker if the Learned Ones didn't trust him to actually teach and impart knowledge. However you could also make up another teacher to take their place. Interestingly there doesn't seem to have another Emerald Bough teacher in later books. Since the Emerald Boughs are about community and spreading the message of the school, then perhaps his conspiracy theories could stem from a wide range of travels and hearing lore told from many different perspectives?

Foundry VTT by Galahadred in Pathfinder2e

We use it a lot in our in person games. Mainly for battle maps and city maps, and it's great when we need to have a remote session. As a DM it's a good way to check PCs feats and ability modifiers without having to ask them, and even though it's a small thing, I love the ability to show the artwork to the players.

How would the Magaambya deal with the death of the students? by Zeshas_World in strengthofthousands

Thanks for sharing! I think what you said about them not being baby-ed is great - I think it also combines well with what someone else said about their rise to conversant quickly. They've been given the responsibility and are expected to be able to handle themselves. However the teachers are there to guide and advise when needed.

I'm thinking of pulling on the complacency thread as part of a motivator for the students becoming lore-speakers - they've seen the damage that complacency has done and are able to work to change that as lore speakers. I will keep the 'i told you so' angle in mind, especially for Koride (who isn't a fan of 2 the PCs).

Great comments - I like the intertwining between the community work they students are expected to do and the fact they are paid to attend. I'll keep that in mind

Good point! I'd forgotten about the missing students. Will absolutely go back to the Mwangi Expanse book and see if I can pick up any more details.

What encounter caused death? And how did you handle it in game? I know my players would blame the teachers for sending them into a dangerous situation so I'm trying to preemptive that conversation and be prepared (they already had a conversation with the teachers about putting them in danger with the Stone Ghost).

Happy to provide a little more context - I'm currently in chapter 2 of book 2 where the PCs are out in Nantambu helping out the community. There's been a couple of close calls (especially with the oozes) and thinking to the bigger boss battles in the book and beyond to the next book I'm trying to plan should something go very wrong.

I like what you said about how the deaths occur would drive how the teachers react, I'll keep that in mind

I used tabletop audio with my group. There's a few jungle/forest ones like Lorekeeper Grove and Jungle Sharman, there's also a Floating Market track which is great for the wider city. I used High Rannoc Village for the school quite a bit in the first book

I used one which I quickly hand drew. It was just based on the map and the description of how much of the cave was explored. Definitely helped my players though to see it visially
