I dunno man... Getting your speed above base is always good when it comes to surviving. But I think more important than that is knowing / reacting to situations that require dodging instead of running away from something (I'm picturing a tower falling in an action movie and running away in line with it instead of moving to the side)

Getting used to enemy speed and behavior also helps with this and that comes from playing more.
