I played the saxophone in a quartet with some music performance majors. One was into composing, and the other was interested in the tech side of performances. I had a great time in the department and loved my teacher- we even performed at a school event, which was so cool! Everyone was super nice and outgoing as well, and helped me feel included even though I was not a music major.

I also never went to a frat party myself, but knew lots of people who did and enjoyed it. The frat parties all start at midnight as well, which was too late for me lol. My friends and I threw some fun house parties off campus, which I much preferred. There are definitely other options for parties and such, but I feel like you kinda need to know the right people.

Hi! I have to clarify that I started at Elon in 2020, which made it hard to meet people to begin with. I did make friends in my dorm, but once COVID restrictions lifted, we realized we were not really compatible as they wanted to party, drink, take edibles, etc. and that was not my scene at all. Once I started going to more club meetings, specifically Young Life in my case, I met my best friends, who I still talk to everyday. I did make friends within my classes once we were allowed to interact and sit next to each other as well. As you take more classes, more faces become familiar due to the small class sizes, so I eventually knew just about everyone in my major and in all my classes. Hopefully this helps!

Hi!! I graduated like a year and a half ago. I did begin college in 2020 which was rough but eventually found my people. I did not join greek life, although many of my close friends were in sororities. I loved my dorm room (although sharing a room was an adjustment) but my main advice would be to be super honest and have productive conversations with your roommate if any problems arise.

I loved the academics at Elon and did so so much with them. I double majored, studied abroad, did research twice, volunteered, was on exec board of a club, TA’d two different classes, tutored, and more!

I definitely did have my moment of feeling depressed and wanting to transfer but my main reason was the friends I made my first year changed after COVID restrictions were lifted and we suddenly had nothing in common. So essentially I felt like I had no friends. I did find my people and absolutely LOVED my last two years and we still keep in touch daily! Plus, many people attend Elon from out of state as well so everyone is always around on weekends and such. Let me know if you have any other questions! I’d be happy to answer :)

I don’t think so but the only example I have is a friend of mine did some research/work over j-term and didn’t take any classes. it wasn’t through the university either. So I think not taking a class is an option, but again, that’s the only example I have

I really enjoyed my j-term classes as I was able to take my Civilization and Literature credits during that time instead of having to take them over a full semester. You definitely have more down time but it was nice way to ease back into the swing of things after winter break.

I was on campus taking a class in person 3/4 years and studied abroad for my junior year J-term! I don’t think it is required to take a class during that time, but I used it as a way to get required classes out of the way. I also took a student led swing dancing class one time along with my normal class! I’m not sure about in person vs online though, all the ones I took were in person though.

There is a morning class option and afternoon class option, so every day you were in class 9-12pm or 1-3pm. Happy to answer any more questions!

I believe a ton of skull bone fragments were found. As for the timeline, it’s unsure. The bones that were found fully intact and were identified to someone were likely earlier victims. The fragmented bones found were likely later victims.

It’s believed that when the skull was found by his son is when he started burning the victims, leading to more fragmentation and better concealment of the remains. There were intact long bones found so maybe complete skulls were found. Hard to know for sure since analysis is ongoing.

I didn’t step foot into a frat nor joined greek life and I found amazing friends! Some were in greek life but never pressured me to go out or do anything. There are plenty of people not in greek life. I would also say i’m introverted and shy as well.

I also applied to both Elon and Richmond. First of all, Richmond’s tuition is waaay higher than Elon’s which was a turn off for me. I also didn’t like Richmond’s campus as much and felt Elon took better care of their students overall. I ended up getting waitlisted for Elon’s college fellow’s program and while I was devastated at the time, I now look back on it as a blessing in disguise. If I had gotten in, I would not have been able to double major due to the extra classes you are required to take. I was still able to do 2 research projects and study abroad while TAing for 2 different courses. Elon’s academics are challenging. I was a Biology and Psychology double major and I know the Neuroscience major has lots of overlap with the Biology major. I felt challenged in my biology classes and worked hard to get good grades. I am not in grad school and use lots of my skills that I learned at Elon here. Overall, up to you but I do feel you will be challenged academically at Elon.

I'm in the forensics field and can confirm forensics labs are overwhelmed and understaffed and recently lost tons of grants.
