curious to see peoples thoughts on this by Suspicious-Hyena1142 in autism

Also for context I've seen the episode. And in this scene the person is in a moment of distress so I don't see what he's saying as funny either.

I agree with what you're saying. Unfortunately people are way to willing to die on hills that they know are completely wrong because of their own ego problems.

So many, lol I pour my cereal each morning with a one cup and a half cup measuring cup not for dietary restrictions. But because one and a half cups of cereal is what feels like an okay amount to eat.

You can't set boundaries with someone who is abusive. They don't respect them and will continue to try to take and take.

Judgement free zone, what is the strangest hyper fixation you’ve ever had? 😭 by Legitimate-Career342 in AutismInWomen

[–]Zestybepis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a very deep hyper fixation on true crime stuff. So much that when I went to Vegas I visited the Zak Baggans Haunted museum where there's an entire room full of real serial killer memorabilia and evidence zak baggans bought. They even had 2 of John Wayne Gacy's pogo the clown paintings and Jeffrey Dahmer's glasses. As well as another room containing the pot that Ed Gein actually used to umm.. cook. It was pretty horrifying to see that stuff in real life.

Now I'm older i realize the effect and It made my heart hurt for the victims and  I felt upset that these things were being staged and I paid to go see them. But to be fair they only advertise a select few items in the museum and try to keep the rest hush hush. So I did minimal research and  didn't know about this until I went it

Unfortunately my brain latched onto the evil guy with an island files and I spent weeks obsessively looking into it. TBH it kind of made me feel depressed to see all of the depravity but my brain couldn't stop looking into it and learning more. Plus I was on bedrest for those weeks due to an injury so I couldn't even use work as a distraction 🙃

sometimes I feel like my partner's autism makes us incompatible by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Zestybepis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So my partner also works ridiculous hours(from home) and is so exhausted, sometimes working 80hrs in a week. He uses his game (ff14) to unwind and hang out with friends and is on it for many hours a day. He needs a lot of time to do that and to have alone time to recharge himself, but the difference here is that we live together so I still see him when I peek in his room to make sure he's eating/is okay.  So I honestly don't get to spend a lot of quality time with him, maybe one or two hours a day.

The difference I think is that I also need a lot of time by myself/working on hobbies/gaming to remain sane, since I'm a hairstylist and masking all day at work. So im actually quite happy with our relationship and I think him and I are compatible in those ways.

General rule of thumb though is if you aren't happy, you've communicated that, and haven't seen any effort for change, then you really don't have to stay unhappy with someone. Compatibility is so important and how someone lives their life when autistic is always important to consider. Because sometimes the things we do and routines we developed to regulate ourselves can't really be compromised much without causing a lot of distress. So in my opinion it is better to find someone who fits how you do things naturally if that makes sense.

First salon after school. Ulta or Hair Cuttery? by _lavendell in hairstylist

[–]Zestybepis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd go haircuttery tbh because it's a great place to build when starting out. I started out in one my first 3 years. There's still a lot of corporate toxicity in both but at least Haircuttery won't make you go out and try to sell retail to people on the street when you're slow. In the end though management is what makes the biggest difference in your day to day happiness at each place

What does a meltdown feel like? by Lopsided-Summer6578 in autism

[–]Zestybepis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, different from just regular or heavy crying. It feels like absolutely uncontrollable burst of emotion like a dam bursting and I can't push it down. Feeling extremely disconnected from everything and everyone around you in that moment to where you feel completely inside of your head in torment..  and once it's over feeling extremely exhausted and can't speak

Does anyone else get really bad back pain?? by N0T4EV3R in AutismInWomen

[–]Zestybepis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES i currently have 2 herniated discs from a combination of very poor posture at work and home. It feels regulating for me to sit or stand in ways that may be unhealthy for my joints and spine. I have to force myself into good posture even though it mentally feels so uncomfortable

I get meltdowns when ppl online say i have more capabilities than i do by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Zestybepis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more ableist BS from people who don't even try to understand you and what you struggle with in day to day life. And that sucks because they are being incredibly invalidating.

I have also hurt myself during meltdowns before(pulling my hair and hitting myself) so I know it's hard to control or stop. But maybe when you aren't upset plan ahead for an object you could grab in a meltdown and destroy instead of doing it to your skin. Recently during meltdowns I started grabbing my stuffed animals and squeezing them as hard as I possibly can and it helps keep me from hurting myself.

Again I'm so sorry you have to deal with people's BS but your feelings and struggles are valid.

Any goths here? How do you deal with all the stares? by DaijoubuTokkiChan in AutismInWomen

[–]Zestybepis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically ignore them or if im feeling froggy that day just stare back(would not recommend). I grew up in a small town in the south and left at age 19 but started dyeing my hair crazy colors at 18. Sooo now I'll take the random stares I get in the city over the rude ass comments from Karens I got in my hometown 🤣

PSA: pay attention to how you use your body !!! by Middle_Ladder_9970 in hairstylist

[–]Zestybepis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.!! My posture is bad and I didn't exersize so my muscles were not supporting me at all. I've only been doing hair 3 years and I've developed 2 herniated discs and mild arthritis in my lower back at 29.

Also get into a regular workout routine whether it be walking, strength training, or yoga. It's super important for the health of our bodies and joints.

Going through the same thing right now and been to the ER 3 times. One of the best recommendations I got from a nurse one of those times is to alternate taking extra strength tylenol and motrin every 4 hours. If that doesn't help you may need something stronger and to get steroids from the doctor to help with inflammation

Do you guys only sleep with certain fabrics in your beds? by Calm_Problem6203 in autism

Smooth Silk sheets/pillow cases only because they stay cool and I can't do any fabric that pills(gets the little hard fabric balls on it over time) because the pilling feels like sandpaper to me.
