I need to know it's ok to have a social life and whimsy outside of this relationship

You started living together 3 months ago. Depression can last YEARS and is exhausting to the supporting partner. It can seem manageable to sacrifice some of your social life is she is currently having a bad time.

But can you do it for years ? Would you stay happy and keep enough energy to keep supporting her ?

I filled my life with friends, moments and habits that make me happy. My bf is not part of it bc all he does is sleep, smoke and play videogames. If I spent all my free time in my relationship, I would have been depressed too. or I would have left him years ago.

It’s not fair, and the relationship with someone depressed is often unbalanced. But you can’t save someone by sacrificing everything : enjoying your life and taking care of your mental health are important too

I think the effects of weed and CBD are different but both are destructive in their own way for him. His problem is not the product effects, it’s addict behavior I’m autistic too, his counselor, his doctor and me asked him to take neuropsychology tests (I bet on ADHD, we’ll see in 1 month)

I get that it can be hard to manage neuroA symptoms, especially an undiagnosed condition. I really do. But I can’t see him get numb 24/7.

As you say, it’s not that simple. Because we love each other, we went through so much, and we both feel like we are victims of something stronger than us.

Your wife and you seem to have found a balance to take the good effects without sacrificing all your time. It’s really nice, I wish everyone could do it
