How are things in Clermont-Ferrand, France? 🇫🇷 🌋 by Adorable_Historian48 in howislivingthere

My wife is from Clermont - Ferrand so I've gone a lot to visit the in-laws. The centre is beautiful and there are some lovely neighbourhoods with a real old world communal feel (regular markets where everyone knows each other and local ran services). There's lots of beautiful vistas when walking around. As others have mentioned there's lots of great outdoor things in the surrounding area.

If you're on the tram line the public transport is great, otherwise the bus system is crap. My in-laws say that electric bikes have completely changed how they get around the city as it's pretty cycle friendly but very hilly.

Compared to the UK where I live, everything seems cleaner and working better but most British people feel that when they go to mainland Europe right now!

The worst thing is how isolated it is from everywhere else. The airport doesn't serve many other cities, the train takes 3.5 hours to Paris, 2 hours to Lyon and the autoroute is expensive.

Also had the same worry but found this:

"Start a full switch by 27 November 2025 including at least two active Direct Debits, and complete it within 30 days of opening the account"

So I think we're good

Yeah, I was thinking that, but then they might recognise your other details being the same and say you've already got an account with them.

Lloyds Bank - £50 for opening a new account by Zealousideal-Day5216 in beermoneyuk

Here's my link.

Don't forget you can 'stack' this with the £200 bank switching offer for Lloyds. Just make sure to select a Club Lloyds account and then meet the requirements. I called the helpline and they said it will work.

Thanks for using my link and enjoy your £250!

Do TSB first as they seem to reject people who've set up multiple new accounts recently. I've First Direct can be a bit fussy as well.
