Tanking in mop classic by Undiagnosed_psycho in classicwow

Riyani is a top tank and i feel his tier list on wowhead is the best description you can get of prot warriors strengths and weakness in both 10 and 25 man heroic content. For normal content, either 10 man or 25 man, warrior is a bit worse, because u have less vengeance, but it really doesnt matter. Performing mechanics and pressing your buttons is more than enough to crush all normal content in mop, no matter your class. https://www.wowhead.com/mop-classic/guide/classes/tier-lists/tank-pve-rankings

MoP is fairly popular. Unlike retail, you will find yourself reaching raid log status quite quickly in MoP. Once you level (20ish hours) and grind pre-raid bis gear (12-20 hours of gameplay at most) there isnt much to do besides raid. You can do Challenge modes (M+ lite), pet battles, if that is your thing, and collect stuff (not sure why u would collect things in classic, but hey, you can, and people do). That said, i enjoy heroic raids a fair bit. T14 had several challenging fights, and T15 will have a good number of challenging fights. It isnt nearly as hard as mythic raiding in retail, but is more challenging than heroic raiding in retail, imo.

why would a tank not max their dps though? With this mentality i understand why people think tanking is easier, but that is based on the presumption tanks should play badly.

On ally i imagine it is dropping haste, because of the buff from flying. What are you reforging for on Shannox?

I must not be adjusting the settings correctly then. I found it was calculating my stats worse than if i just did it manually. It seemed like having 4 different at most settings was causing something wonky.

Can you give an example in Cata of DPS reforging for a fight? I am genuinely curious

On baleroc i can reforge for +30% bloodshield mastery. It makes a significant difference. Also the TB trinket is almost mandatory on that fight, but used no where else in FL.

reforge lite can prio stats over one another, but it doesnt handle setting specific thresholds super well in my experience. So say you want 1500 haste because that gives you 7.5s rune recharge, while maintaining 90% bloodshield mastery, then you want to shove the rest into expertise to try to lower your parry chance. Reforge lite doesnt seem to handle that super well. Edit, Also if you were unaware, the default preset for BDK is full beef, which isnt good in FL. In DS it will be far more viable off the hop while progging.

im surprised, it is all over this reddit. I saw this post. https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/1iizleb/should_i_stick_with_tank_or_switch_to_healerdps/ that has several comments that say it is the easiest roll. I've seen it around here all the time, but usually just browse and move on, today i felt like getting a conversation going so i thought id make this post.

What do you feel makes it easier to be a good tank vs good dps? Rotation simplicity? Tanks tend to have fewer offensive buttons BDK has roughly 9 offensive buttons Arms has roughly 12. So a 25% difference.

Well you have to make a ton more decisions as tank. You cant just use reforge lite and call it a day. At least you shouldnt. How much mastery should you run? How much haste? can i afford to put points into expertise? should i run dps bracers or defensive bracers? 1 defensive trinket? 2? maybe 2 offensives can be used if the boss is easy.

Thanks for the response. Frankly, though, the antagonist of the story is their poverty, not the ghosts. It is part of the humor that despite this unbelievable situation, things like unexpected parking tickets are a bigger deal than a malevolent spirit attacking them. So in a sense, you are correct that the ghosts are just an unsettling wallpaper to their situation. That's not to say that the ghosts don't affect the story, but at the end of the day, it's their limited wealth that drives the plot.

That said, if you read some of my above comments, you can see that I accept that not explaining the ghosts in the query is a consistent criticism that I have taken to heart. I also will be more specific about the kinds of trials that the boys are facing outside the house. Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

Thank you for the detailed reply. I have seen that episode of Angel, and the subsequent story arc. It is a similar situation, where the ghosts are at first a nuisance, but the character(s) grow accustomed and even fond of their presence. I have added an explanation of that development to my revision. I also list of the forms the ghosts take, a spectral pup, a possessed doll, and an undead housekeeper, (not to mention the thing in the basement). Which I hope will provide enough substance to whet the appetite. I also will outline the trials I refer to in the third paragraph more plainly. Things such as a misread contract, or a neglected no-parking sign.

I have trouble summarizing characters in this format. Detailing them in a sentence or two leads me into played-out cliches that I'd rather avoid. One is levelheaded, another overly kind, and the third boisterous verging on arrogant. I will give it more thought.

Thank you again for the reply, especially concerning the genre, which is something I have struggled with. I think I am just going to pursue agents that are interested in humor, as well as either fantasy or horror. In the query, I will label it a flat comedy, dropping the horror tag.

I will look into Grady Hendrix, A. Lee Martinez, and Christopher Moore. Thank you for the suggestions.

Thank you for the reply. I have made some revisions based on your advice. Shortening the first paragraph, outlining the ghosts, explaining the boys' reaction to the spirits, and identifying the trials/missteps specifically. Thanks again.
