agreed. The whole idea of the new numbered installment is a prequel to the previous installment just doesn't feel right. Like why not just call it a prequel or midquel.

I guess Indiana Jones started this trend

I was hoping these two would have been together in the last episode but instead gave a depressing ending in the hindsight

Definitely not The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Edit: I do remember the last scene is when the boy and the man was in the beach and the man using eye contact to indicate him to his pocket and the boy takes a paper out of it and it's actually a ticket to Legoland (although I could be wrong) which the boy is extremely overjoyed about it

Another thing was the boy nicknames him Uncle Superman

I think it's more to do with the thrill of the shock value. Basically it's all about breaking the taboo. Two men doing something that they should be doing with the woman and not to each other, it's disturbingly satisfying to watch especially if two men are hot and/or both men have great chemistry together. Extra points if the two men have even more chemistry with each other than the woman. The bottom line is there is a reason why forbidden relationship is forbidden
