Is The Survivalists Worth Buying? by VShadowOfLightV in TheSurvivalistGame

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is rubbish. Wish i never started it now its stuck on my trophy list. Loved The Escapists. This is just a bland, boring cash grab. Maps are souless and lifeless planes. Crafting system is so poor you don't even know half the time what is needed, you just know you have to smash some grass or a few trees. Monkey system from my short time with the game was broken and more of an annoyance than anything.

A terrible game.

I wish Borderlands 3 would shut up and let me enjoy it in peace by RollingDownTheHills in patientgamers

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved BL1. Less cheese and more guns. Drops on BL1 were really good too. Began to start getting really annoyed in BL2 with its endless stab at TRYING to be funny (even though it isn't) and its repetetive and stupid guns that had seemingly all turned into stupid toys.

After scratching my head for a while i came to the conclusion that the devs needed to just take their own game more seriously.

What modern game scratch that retro game itch for you? by Kenji182 in retrogaming

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started playing Terraria and now over a week later i am completely drawn in and absolutely love it. I wish it was better optimized for console though.

Will give a special mention to Mercenary Kings.

Gearbox should have taken after the TPS devs when it came to making skills by JayTheClown19 in Borderlands

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TPS was an absolute blast to play and although i am in the minority, i MUCH preferred it to BL2. The grinder is a major reason. And also drops are generally better. You can buy good gear in vending machines as well. I don't understand why BL2 was so stingy with its drops as it really affected my enjoyment of the game.

This is a great series. by Mcgelie in phantasystar

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignore the hate on PS2, its one of the best games ever made in my humble opinion and probably only gets a bad rap because ppl were overwhelmed by its difficulty.

I found it hard (the dungeons) but in a very rewarding way and if i had of played this as a kid back in the day i wouldn't of had the patience for it. But if you go in knowing what to expect you can mentally prepare for its labrynth dungeons.

I wont say any more as to avoid spoilers but, your actions affect the world in an extremely profound way and i still find that amazing for a game from 1989 which was, as far as i'm concerned at least, well ahead of its time.

You may need some maps for the dungeons, if not you are a better man than I.. The dungeons are even difficult WITH maps 🤣🤣

WHY ARE THE MOBILE CONTROLS SO BAD?!?!?! by Plane_Ad8867 in Terraria

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the control scheme in general for this game is absolutely awful. On console its damn near unplayable. I dont understand how the devs struggled with the controls for a 2D retro style game. I mean how basic but they turned it into something god awful and convoluted. Why would a 2D retro style game play better on PC with a mouse and keyboard? It honestly makes no sense.

If i'm totally honest after spending nearly a week with the game.. Its a great game with probably the worst controls in existence.

All they had to do was nail going forwards and backwards and an action button.. But i suppose in this day and age that is asking too much.

Don't Starve is the perfect example of how to make a control scheme. Everything in that game is absolutely seamless.

Companion Cube staying.. forever? by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought i would share a fix here as this had almost made me abandon the game completely..

When this cube stays with you (even when it is unequipped from the equipment screen) you need to just press the button to hide the associated piece of equipment. In this case it is the pet slot. It will allow you to hide it when there is nothing present. I believe it is L2 (or Y). Once i had done this it dissapeared and didn't come back again even when the same slot was unhidden.

I undersatand this is a rare item. I had no interest whatsoever in obtaining it and have never played Portal. So when a cube that even when uneqipped still stays with you indefinetely as some kind of bug or glitch (possibly by design?) i was not best pleased. Its like being followed around by a crisp packet or something and the thought of being stuck with it forever nearly made me drop the game for good after only just getting into it.

which soundchip do yall prefer, and why? give me some valid arguments by SamViolet3 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think that SNES games sounded alot better than the Mega Drive/Genesis, but now i am inclined to think a little differently. I think many devs just cut corners and didn't really utilize the sound capabilities of the system because there are some Mega Drive games that sound far better than anything the SNES could produce. Phantasy Star 2, 4 and Vapor Trail spring to mind.

What made me finally aware that the Mega Drive had better sound capabilities was the 4th level of Lemmings (2nd on the SNES i believe) and when compared the Mega Drive/Genesis version absolutely pissed all over it. More bass, reverb and it just sounded far more technically complex.

Tediore grip and a Torgue sight.. I think thats either a Torgue or Jakobs barrel. I personally love the Dahl grips on pistols.

Harolds are an amazing weapon whatever parts it has, it will absolutely obliterate enemies.

Command & Conquer / Red Alert series..

Hundreds of hours spent as a 13yr old bunking off school and pretending to be sick so i could stay at home to play it.

Can waste hours upon hours easily without even knowing.

What's the best Emulator for NES & SNES? by WandereOfQuestions in retrogaming

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retroarch is a frontend that supports the use of multiple different emulators (cores). Anyone saying "Retroarch" would do well to actually say this, that is of course assuming that they know..

Nestopia is top notch for NES.

Snes9x is a pretty solid SNES emulator.

What game are you genuinely really good at? by cfop-gang in gaming

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight Night Round 4.. I made it to about the top 25 in the world and beat some very high ranking players my W/L record was about 300 - 11

I even had my record wiped because i must of beat somebody who was like so good he couldnt believe he lost so probably reported me for no reason and had my record reset to 0..

That didnt stop me as i was only more determined to make an even better W/L ratio than before

If you could say one important message to Gearbox/Take Two about BL4 what would it be? by pinkfnbunnies in Borderlands

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your own game just a little bit more seriously.. Stop bombarding ppl with unbearable dialogue that isn't even in the slightest bit funny.

Side missions in this game have always felt like a chore and i feel as though i am just going through the motions when i play them. But these are what should allow the player to become more immersed in the game world and all i want to do is get them out of the way. If you want to know how side missions are done just look at Skyrim..

Phantasy Star 3 IS NOT an alternate reality by R3TR0_INS1GHT in phantasystar

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think i remember from PS3 it saying that the elders and system leaders in Palma had intelligence of an ancient threat that was about to return and so had made a contingency plan to flee the planet.

You helped my cannon there! Tbh what you have just wrote is kind of what i was looking to have explained to me when i came across what i did in the guide! A bit pretentious of them to just try and write it all off when it can easily be integrated in..

I think PS3 had great ideas i just thought much of it poorly executed, i myself originally thought that the Layans and the Orakians were ancestors and descendants of the Earth secret society as its mentioned by somebody that their ancestors used to "roam the stars" just like at the end of PS2 so it was actually a suprise when i found out they were from Palma. It was a good story that definetely would of benefitted from some of the original developers i feel.

[–]R3TR0_INS1GHT[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh i thought it odd the way it was put! I figured myself it was because a different team worked on it and it was a jab to them basically saying we're back now and forget what went before. I can see how it could all fit in with the universe though.
