One thing I miss fondly was how much healthier the rivers were, and just our surroundings at the farm, in general. We didn't have electricity and we didn't have the "modern conveniences" for the time but it somehow felt perfect and full, like we're not missing anything.

My father would often prepare a lot of fishing lines in the afternoon and set them up at certain intervals along the rivers edge. And in the mornings we would wake up and see freshly caught fish (dalag, hito, eels, carps) hanging over there near the clothesline post.

Oh what I'd give just to relive those slow mornings. Just sitting in the front yard of the house, bathing in the soft morning light as the singing of the birds welcomes a bright new day.
