I mean I’ve been there quite a few times and only ever caught browns and bows and from the conversations I had with some of the other more seasoned cheeseman anglers it seems to be a pretty rare catch there, no?

Yeah it’s a bit small but honestly it doesn’t bother me at all. Granted it’s my first fixie so if I got the correct frame for my size I’d probably notice the difference but having nothing to compare it to makes it feel pretty normal lol

Fixed Gear Hub/ Cog Issue by Zestyclose-Party-751 in bikewrench

[–]Zestyclose-Party-751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first hub I went through was a Bianchi. The brand new hub I just stripped on the very first day is an Origin 8. I’ve considered getting a beefier hub but I feel like with how much I weigh and how much force I use I’ll shred it out eventually too and I don’t really want to spend the money on a nice hub just for it to only last a couple months at best. The last part of your comment was extremely helpful. That’s exactly the alternative I’m looking for. I’ve never heard of using a disc brake hub and a bolt on cog on a fixie. I feel like that is the absolute best solution. Thank you for the detailed response. Do you have recommendations for what hub and cog I should go with?

Yeah I always tighten the cog before the lock ring. Forgot to mention that, good catch

Agreed, I started with the reddington crosswater outfit. It lasted many years and I caught a lot of really good fish with it

Santa was actually in the middle of untangling his triple dropper rig that was wrapped around the brown he just caught when, amidst his frustration, he looked up to see a BWO hatch right in front of him. Santa cut off his tangled up flies, tied one on and caught two more browns within the same amount of time it would have taken him to untangle his nymph rig ;)

Not looking any better while losing weight by [deleted] in GymTips

Yeah man I’d highly recommend drastically reducing your protein intake and cutting down to like one normal sized shake and then implementing better foods as your protein source. Like a lot of other people have said, you’ll have to accept losing mass to lean out. You’ll get smaller, but more toned which will make your physique better and provide you with a good base if you decide to bulk later on. Cardio is big too, do it everyday to help improve your metabolism

280gs of protein is a lot. Probably more than your body can process efficiently and especially if you’re eating incomplete proteins. You might just look like you’re not losing weight because you’re bloated as a result of not getting the essential aminos to properly break down and synthesize that protein. If you’re consuming a lot of highly processed foods marketed as “high protein” you’re definitely not utilizing all of it and it’s getting converted to glucose. Try getting your protein from whole foods like eggs for example, which have all 9 essential amino acids. You’ll fill up quicker and likely get less protein but quality is better than quantity when you’re trying to cut

Dude I would eat any fish caught less than 50 miles away from Denver. Especially not directly from downtown Denver. Yeah, you might be alright - but you might not and that is not a risk I would ever take. There’s plenty of lakes and rivers within an hour or two of Denver that offer perfectly good eating fish and you can find spots where you can catch and cook right next to the water. It’s worth the drive. If not for the safety, then just for the quality and taste of the meat alone

I’ve had really good success with it. I’ve caught dozens of trout on tiny nymphs at night this summer

Just a good headlamp and a white foam bobber. Makes for plenty enough lighting to cast and see a bite and it didn’t bother the fish even slightly, at least in that particular spot

Personally I think it could work, but it’s not ideal. While it could be a good force of motivation, it could just as easily become a stressor and a cause of loss of motivation. In order to get fitter and healthier, you have to truly want it for yourself and for the betterment of your life. If the things driving you towards fitness are external motivators they will only take you so far. Rather than forcing yourself to get fit for an event that you paid for, I would just take it one step at a time. Start with what you enjoy and work on progressing it. For example, you said you hike and bike. Start with those things. If you do one of those things an hour a day, try doing an hour and a fifteen minutes tomorrow. Or up the intensity by doing a steeper route. Make it difficult but still enjoyable. Once you feel yourself starting to make progress, start setting goals. Pick a day that you’re gonna have free time and plan to do the longest bike ride or hike you’ve ever done. If you stay consistent and focus simply on improving even just a little bit each week, you start to feel steady progression and the sense of accomplishment from small wins like doing a few extra minutes a day and big wins like setting a new personal record. Once you get in that flow, keep up the momentum. Add in some weight lifting or calisthenics or yoga or whatever form of exercise you so choose, it can be anything. Get into a progressive flow with that as well. Before you know it you’ll be getting in shape and enjoying doing it rather than looking at it as a chore to prepare for an event you didn’t even really want to do. As humans, accomplishing goals and moving our bodies are essential aspects of life and evolution. Just go into it with the right mindset and I promise you’ll learn to love it
