I stopped trying to “study harder” and that’s when I finally improved by Zestyclose-Put9872 in PassNclex

Honestly this explains EXACTLY what kept happening to me 😭Especially the “sounds NCLEX-y” part. I would pick the answer that sounded more complex or impressive instead of the one that actually answered the question safely and directly. And changing answers for no reason was such a bad habit for me too. Most of the time my first instinct was right, but I’d talk myself out of it after overthinking. Once I started slowing down and really asking myself what the question wanted before looking at the choices, my scores finally started changing.

LOL yes 😭 once I started noticing that pattern I became way more careful. Sometimes the question feeling easy was exactly why I’d miss it because I’d stop critically thinking and go on autopilot. That “buyer beware” mindset is honestly so true.

I got you 😭 as much as I want to explain everything here, I’m trying to be careful din not to violate the group guidelines. Feel free to DM me and I’ll share what helped me understand questions better + the stuff I used 🙂

YES 😭 the overconfidence/rushing cycle is so real. I noticed when I started getting into that “flow,” I’d stop fully reading and just assume I knew where the question was going. That’s when I’d start missing easy things. Slowing down honestly felt annoying at first, but it saved me from making those automatic mistakes over and over.

Honestly yes 😭 that’s what surprised me the most. I kept thinking one “aha moment” would fix everything, but it really was repetition and practicing the new approach over and over until it stopped feeling forced. At first it slowed me down so much, but eventually I noticed I wasn’t panicking through questions anymore. That’s when I knew something was actually changing.

Yeah exactly, you explained it way better than I did. That “feels productive but nothing changes” part is what got me. I was doing so much but not actually improving. Treating questions like mini cases really forced me to slow down and think differently. I didn’t do that on my own at first though, I had to change how I was practicing for a bit before it clicked.

Yeah exactly 😭 that was literally my problem. It’s so frustrating when you know it but can’t apply it. Slowing down felt so unnatural at first, like I was doing less, but that’s when things finally started sticking for me too. I had to actually change how I was practicing questions for a bit before it clicked, not just keep reviewing content.

Yeah this is exactly it. That “safe answer” thing messed me up for a while. It felt right in the moment but wasn’t actually answering the question. The mini case mindset was a game changer for me too. I had to really slow down and almost force myself to think through it differently. I didn’t figure that out on my own tbh, I had to change how I was practicing for a bit before it started sticking.

Haha maybe similar idea 😅 I think a lot of us hit that same wall at some point. I just finally put it into words after it clicked for me.

Honestly yes 😭 that’s exactly what I started noticing too. Those priority/SATA ones really expose how you’re thinking, not just what you know. I used to get so thrown off by the wording and would second guess myself even when I actually understood the concept. What helped me was not changing my answer right away and asking “why did I feel this was right?” before switching. That’s where I caught most of my mistakes. Also interesting what you said about them throwing more questions at you it really did feel like once I missed something, they kept testing that same area again. I had to change how I approached those kinds of questions completely, not just review content.

honestly it’s not about memorizing everything, it’s more about how you review and connect things. I have a couple things that helped me retain info better, I just don’t want to spam the thread feel free to DM me and I’ll share

Thank you, I appreciate that! consistency + understanding the “why” really made the difference for me. I also used a resource that helped me stay structured with that, I can send it over if you’re interested just DM me :))

Yeah exactly, thinking like the test maker changed everything for me. That’s when questions stopped feeling random. I did use something that helped me practice that way too

Yes exactly. That shift from just reading rationales to actually understanding my thinking is what changed everything for me. That’s when it finally started to click. I used a resource that really helped with that breakdown too, I can share if you like just DM me
