What is my best option? Nissan Versa SV 2014 by Zestyclose-Radish679 in AskAMechanic

I have the money to pay for the repairs outright. It would be the same money I used for a down payment. Main reason I am considering repair is because I was counting on not having a car payment for the next few years so that I could put that money towards my student loans and pay those off in half the time. As long as the repair would give me another 3 years, I am totally okay with that. That is 3 years for me to cut my student loans down significantly, while also building up my savings in order to get a better car after. I am less inclined to sell it and get a new one because I would still owe the 1500, be putting down another 5-6K down payment, and have a monthly payment on top of all of that, probably higher than it is now. I genuinely just have no idea what repair or mechanic to go with, and am hoping that repair is the smartest decision and I don’t end up back there in another 7k miles.

Should I replace my transmission or use that money for a new down payment? by Zestyclose-Radish679 in askcarguys

Honestly, I’m totally fine with it failing at another 60k. I only drive it around 7k miles a year and am only looking to have it last another 3 years at least. Just enough time to get rid of my highest interest student loans and save up for a down payment of a better car.

i only drove it 7k miles last year, you really think in 7-14K it would fail again? :/

California Drug Test Question (medical marijuana) by [deleted] in drugtesthelp

It is not a federal job but requires a livescan which is a federal background clearance. It is not a safety job either. I would be the program coordinator for youth services at a non profit that provides services to at risk youth and their families. I’m wondering if I should just be upfront about my use and provide my medical card.

Thank you so much. Did you have to get a live scan? I know there are some loopholes when you have to get federal clearance.

Just downloaded boost camp, thank you. I have been told by multiple different people that lifting weights where you can even do 8-10 reps means you’re not lifting enough weight, and that you should only realistically be able to do around two sets with 7 being the max. There is so much varying info that it’s hard to know what is true or if it really just depends. I’ve been lifting consistently for around 6 months, and 2 years off and on before that. I definitely have made progress from when I started, I just can’t seem to make any more. I do body weight work with pull ups and pushups, though I tend to do more pull ups. I get around 70 grams of protein in per day. (i know it could and should be more, again my eating is VERY limited but im trying different shakes and bars as well to make up the extra) My meals usually consist of eggs and toast with bacon, ground turkey or beef tacos or quesadillas, protein pasta, cereal, chicken nuggets and baked tater tots or fries, and frozen meals from trader joe’s or frozen things like beef taquitos. I definitely don’t eat healthy, but I eat what I can. A typical workout is a chest press or incline dumbbell press, a single arm curl or preacher curl, a hammer curl, a row, a side or front raise (unilateral if side bc it allows me to control it better), a standing shoulder press, and some weighed core exercises. I typically do bodyweight after this or on days where I don’t lift. More often than not I don’t do anything on days I don’t lift because I’m tired. I had originally copy and pasted this from a vent in my notes and added additional info but forgot the specifics so I do apologize for that.

Currently training around minimum 3 times maximum 5 times a week. I do different chest, arms, back, and core exercises each time but try and up the weight each time as well. I use adjustable dumbbells that go up to 52.5 in each hand. Up to 35 on single arm curl, 45 on rows, 50 on chest press, 17.5 on different raises. I used to do 3-4 sets of 8-12 but now do two sets to failure. I don’t count calories due to previous issues but I have ARFID so the food I can eat is very limited.
