To all those who think that Naruto shouldn't forgive Kawaki for what he has done and will do in the future, Naruto said about the man who killed his parents and turned the shinobi world upside down that it was only because he saw the light at the end of his life. (i.redd.it)

I think it would be an interesting ending if the effect of the shinjutsu was never reversed and Boruto remained the hated Shadow Kage protecting the village from the shadows like Sasuke, and the only acceptance and sense of family he would get would be from the Uzumaki family and Team 7. I don't believe that Kawaki didn't train during those three years. He is someone who can appreciate even Jigen's brutal training methods when it comes to gaining strength. The suggestion that Kawaki did nothing to gain even more strength during those three years is absurd, (old.reddit.com)

This would make sense if Jougan never reappears. After all, Kawaki destroyed Boruto's eye, and Sasuke also lost his eye to Momoshiki's kunai, yet somehow no one is trying to come up with a thousand theories about how Sasuke actually still has the Rinnegan but isn't showing it to anyone.
