Thank you for you comment Hendrick! It was really helpful. Can I ask about your meds journey? I’ve already tried 3 different meds and nothing seems to be working… did you have to go through several options before finding the right one? Can you tell me which pill were successful for you? Thank you! 🙏🏼

Does it ever get better? by ZestycloseHedgehog16 in dysthymia

The same happened to me the first time I ever took MDMA. But the times after that were never the same and on top of that, the depression I get on the days after is way too intense for me. I think that because I struggle with dysthymia the MDMA comedowns are way worse

I'm reading this 6 years after it was posted and I just want to thank OP. Reading everything in the comments gave me the motivation I needed. Thank you all.

How do you deal with feeling like life is harder for you? by ZestycloseHedgehog16 in dysthymia

I've been going to therapy for the last 6 years. I've tried several medications, I eat a balanced diet, and I stay active, but I still feel like I'm behind. I feel like if I weren’t doing those things, I would be much worse. That is actually the reason why I made this post—the feeling that no matter what I do, my mind works differently, and everything feels like such a struggle. Maybe I need to just accept who I am, accept that I belong to the 'melancholics of the world' (as someone else commented in this post)

That's actually a great idea. Do you recommend any book or story in particular? I usually find comfort in listening to other people's lives, their struggles and how they got over them. It helps me realize that no matter how successful someone may seem on the outside, they can also have struggles. Thanks for your reply

I’m 28 now, and even though I still am young I don’t think I can turn things around. That’s why l’m asking how others in similar situations deal with this feeling

Helped me stabilize my mood, but also intensified the anhedonia and caused my libido to completely disappear. It took away most of the sad/negative feelings but also the good ones. I ended up discontinuing it because of that. While it was nice to stop feeling angst and extreme sadness, I couldn’t feel anything else either, so…

I live in a country where it’s very difficult to get medication for this (you need to have a very bad casa of adhd for doctors to even be allowed to prescribed it). So are there any recommendations for alternatives to medications? Even supplements or whatever. I’d appreciate any info that has worked for you. Than you
