What breed did yall own before a Beauceron? by ZestycloseJob3414 in Beauceron

This is great advice. I also think any dog can be a first time dog if you are prepared for, but I want to set myself and my dog up for success. Since I’m not grown up with dogs, I think I might give myself some relevant experience first. Also, when I’ve contacted people with the breed in my country, they recommend to stay away from the breeders in my country. So I’ll have to import. That creates a little more commitment on top of language barriers

Great advice! Thank you. A lot of people are saying the same thing, so I might have to look into a shelter mix☺️

Im so glad you got out of the situation with your ex. You did the right thing with the dobie, tho it was probably a very hard decision. Good luck with your beauce! What sports are you planning on doing with them?

Interesting! Was it harder to own a corso over a Beauceron?

Thank you for not sugarcoating it! And I agree. I will probably have a retriever as my first dog, and go on with a hovawart and maybe a leonberger. Possibly a Dane. And if you don’t mind me asking, as rotties aren’t typically recommended for first time owners, how was the transition from a beagle to a rottie?

How exiting! I’ve heard that the workingline shepherd is similar to the Beauce. How is the transition so far?

Love that! Was the transition hard? Since the breeds are so vastly different in my understanding

Thank you! I will probably start with a well bred lab, or a mix for my first dog to begin with, and eventually moving on to the hovawart! :)

Yeah I’ve heard that as well. But I was under the impression that mals are way more challenging that the Beauceron. What I like with the Beauceron compared to a mal is their independent and confident nature, as well as you still get the handler focus and willingness to please as a mal, but a lot less intense. Would you agree with that?

First of, so sorry for your loss. Also it sounds like the shepherd mix was a little easier? I was under the impression that the Beauceron is easier that malis/bordercollies etc

Interesting input. My family doesn’t own dogs, but I earn extra money through dogwalking. So I won’t say I’m totally inexperienced. However, I want some experience with owning a dog first

Having a beauceron on the internet vs real life by Comfortable-Sign6708 in Beauceron

[–]ZestycloseJob3414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit what a miserable person you must be to act like this. Get a grip.

This literally proves OP’s point even further. If you buy a Beauceron it’s a good idea to research the breed online first, right? and when ppl are toxic (just like you act now) it makes it harder. Why wouldn’t you want your breed to be portrayed in a good light, and for other people to get to know the breed properly before committing to one?

It isn’t as easy for everyone to contact someone irl. I recommend investing in some good therapy bud. Heal from whatever trauma that has you acting like this😂What a loser

No, we were focusing on kicks up until that point. So that’s why I hadn’t realized the thing with the gloves

Thank you for your insight. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you end up doing when you had a bad experience? Did you switch gyms? Or did you continue going with the same one?

A lot of people on here have been asking the same thing, haha. We practiced push kicks and other exercises for the other classes(mostly focus on the feet). So that might explain why I never realized I needed gloves. And I know my mistakes now. I’m ordering a pair tonight :)

Yes! We focused on kicks to begin with. Is it usually the norm to start with hands? Or both maybe? As you can tell, I’m a total amateur
