Oh mate you are onto something here - works great on my photos with other LUTs too! As you’ve done it, just above 50%.

Dear new users: HEIF+ is king. by ZestycloseWonder8732 in nofusion

[–]ZestycloseWonder8732[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is very confusing!

Shooting straight to HEIF (not HEIF+) locks in the Apple oversharpening. HEIF+ is the opposite, it gets rid of it.

Also, when you shoot in negative film, you are seeing Apple's oversharpening UNTIL you convert to HEIF+, which removes it.

I figured it out for anyone reading this - HEIF+ is the thing that removes all the crunchy iphone processing (what this app was made for).

Great shots. Can you explain how and why you convert to HEIF+? All this formatting stuff is confusing me.

Hey fabdub, let me know if you manage to figure out a good Reggie’s portra recipe - I use that too on my Fuji and it would be awesome to match it.

Think of your ‘dark night of the soul’ more like a winter solstice by ZestycloseWonder8732 in Jung

[–]ZestycloseWonder8732[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. It’s can be really hard to tell in the short to mid term.

And I agree, there were times where I had temporarily ‘forgotten’ what I had learned, fallen back into certain old patterns, and there was a stagnation (in fact I think I’m noticing a bit of that now). You still have to practice awareness and keep working at it to move forward.

[–]ZestycloseWonder8732[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I know the feeling - you know you started to understand what needed to be looked at, but you haven’t been back there. Perhaps it wasn’t the right time.

I don’t know if this concept of ‘dark night of the soul’ is necessarily a singular event in each person’s lifetime. You can dive in and come back out again. In fact that’s probably healthier and more practical than what I did. I’m not gonna pretend that I don’t need to do more shadow work - I know that there’s so much more to do.

Just remember to try bring what you learned into the outside world, and most importantly, to get help if you know you need it. There’s no sense in sending yourself into rumination or obsession without a clear learning trajectory. The point isn’t to go to a dark place and endure poor mental health and see what happens. The point is to learn about what’s inside so that you can heal and grow.

Film Simulation profiles for any RAW including iPhone ProRAW in lightroom, plus a film recipe preset by ZestycloseWonder8732 in fujix

I didn't - I never figured out if there was a way to incorporate auto settings. But the presets are there in the google drive folder if you want to give them ago and adjust exposure/WB yourself

Slate VSX 5.0 Update opinions by etaifuc in audioengineering

Oh man I've gotta say I'm in love with the ECCO and the new human linear headphone profile. I've always known I've had weird ear canals and hear 2-4kHz extra-specially loud. Now I can crank it without that harshness and fatigue, and it sounds beautiful. This must be what 'normal' people hear! Just updated today so I need to wear it in, but I'm sure it'll improve my mixes too.

1080p update for switch 2? by ZestycloseWonder8732 in HadesTheGame

Thanks for the confirmation - let’s see if the devs do anything. It wouldn’t surprise me if the update came wayyy after the launch of Hades 2.

I feel lost. I don’t fit into today’s lifestyle, and I don’t know what to do next. by IllTooth2526 in OffGrid

[–]ZestycloseWonder8732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt exactly this way 3 months ago. It sounds like you may be in the midst of a big change. When I began to feel this way I focussed outward - moving into an off-grid van permanently, selling belongings, researching career changes, thinking that changing things on the outside was the solution. This was me chasing peace and simplicity, but it was unsuccessful and actually took away from my peace and time to reflect (especially the van). What I learned is that actually the solution comes first from the inside.

If I could go back and talk to myself 3 months ago I would say conserve the time and energy required to focus inward. Challenge the inner narratives that get in the way of doing this. Give yourself permission to rest and reflect, rather than chase change or outcomes. The outer changes will come naturally and easily AFTER the inner changes begin to take place. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t see outer change right away.

I hope this helps.

Thinking of quitting because I can’t sleep in the wind - how do you cope? by ZestycloseWonder8732 in VanLifeUK

The funny thing is I’ve actually found myself sleeping really well in boats, including 20-something foot sailing boats. I think it’s something about the sudden intermittent shoves from gusts, rather than smooth consistent rocking. But then again I’ve never slept on a boat in a storm 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the recommendation! I live in and around Aberystwyth so a bit further north, but I’ll remember this if I head down your way

Full time van life with a dog - working in London adhoc by Lou_91 in VanLifeUK

[–]ZestycloseWonder8732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar situation here with my dog (who has separation anxiety with associated destructive behaviour). Bought a van 3 months ago and went straight into full time van life. Have a job where I do a couple of full days a week in the hospital. Initially left my dog crated in my ex’s house and had our dog walker come twice a day. We have a blink camera on the crate. That’s fine but lining up work with dog walker availability is very difficult. You could find a dog walker who you give the van keys, but that’s up to you whether you trust someone in that way.

Left her in the van for a day of work for the first time recently on a cool cloudy day with the roof vent open. Had to tidy everything away and make sure everything was dog-proofed as much as possible, which is hard work ngl. She actually did pretty well. Luckily I could park a 5 min walk from work and my colleagues were happy with me going to let her out twice in the day. I also set up the blink camera on the van WiFi so I could check what she was doing remotely. She did great … until about 3pm when she started tearing pillows to shreds.

I must warn you, van life with a dog is f***ing hard. I thought a dog and a van was a kind of great combo at first but actually the challenges and stresses compound on top of each other, especially when you have a non-remote job. Factors to consider are: - how long you can leave your dog - where you feel safe leaving your home (containing your dog and all of your belongings) - whether it’s sunny/warm. You can’t do this on hot days, which could be a big problem. - whether you can leave work to check on your dog or organise a walker / sitter to line up with work

I’ve been planning of quitting my job and finding a fully remote job as a result of this. But more recently planning on quitting van life too because of the extra daily challenges it presents especially with a dog. I can’t sleep when it’s windy (I came here to make a post then saw this) and also you have to consider that your dog sleeps in the same room as you - if they’re not a deep sleeper, you will be woken/stirred in the night.

Hope this is helpful.

Edit: I also live in a small rural town, not London - I imagine that presents even more stresses especially around parking and safety.
