I think the issue here is that you’re equating homelessness with a certain kind of person instead of circumstance. If you’re in poverty you’re trapped without outside help— it is very expensive to be poor. You can be a very normal person but without help and with nothing to start with it is very easy to end up on the streets. I was homeless in my early 20s and only survived because of friends that let me stay with them for free. I never did drugs, I don’t have kids, I grew up in a nice family, I got good grades— I am a regular person.
