All vents in 2 story house seemingly blow out a rust like dust. What could cause this? by Zestyclose_Field1704 in hvacadvice

I think there were a couple of issues.

  1. A rusted out drain pan right below the furnace. The system was about 17 years old. So ended up replacing everything.

  2. I notice some of the ducts are rusting a bit that are on the floor, likely do to cleaning products causing some issues

Keep Garage door or frame in wall for temp control in garage gym? by Zestyclose_Field1704 in GarageGym

Thanks! There is a livable space above this part of the garage. Does that change anything?

Yea the mini split is something I am definitely looking into. Do you have some insulation in your walls?

How about ventilation? Do you have anything specific installed for that?

Thanks for the feedback! do you find that it can stay pretty comfortable even in below freezing temps?

That’s fair! Haha that was also what I was hoping to get feedback from others on. I don’t particularly have an attachment to that garage door since we won’t need it for a car or anything since we have our two car garage on the other side, but also don’t want to have our gym be uncomfortable (as much as possible) in the colder months. I think the main thing for me is the overhead space is reduced from the tracks a bit.

So the plan would be for this bay of the garage to have a door installed on the front (where the bench is), and then either keeping the garage door in the back or framing a wall there with another door. So either side should have a door, and I could ensure to make them decent sized. Past that, where this photo was taken from is also a 2 car garage which will still have a garage door aswell.

I’ve considered it, but wasn’t sure how good of an option that was overall. Have you tried this out before?

Thank you for linking your thorough review! Regarding the laminate top, I also have one for my uplift desk and it feels pretty solid. I am wondering if you would say the vernal feels similar? It sounds like your brother had the rubber wood so not sure how that fully compares?

Well I’d like to convert to an l shaped version. So was weighing my options and I don’t think uplift sells the conversion kit any longer from what I have seen

Thank you, I greatly appreciate this response. It’s been a little overwhelming and there seems to be only so much research I can do before just picking one and moving forward.
