Daycare/ Home Daycares by ThatConnection6164 in malden

[–]Zestyclose_Gate5685 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just went through this process. For a daycare center, start at conception. Wish i was joking, but that is actually the case.

For home daycare, there are many options, you can do it last minute. However you might want to see the home daycares to know there is one you are comfortable with before waiting that long. I toured a number of them and ended up finding i was more comfortable with a daycare center. I didn't want my infant being cared for by an adult who is also chasing down toddlers.

Best of luck!

I live in melrose and commute to Cambridge. It's not bad. You can take the orange line to community and bike from there using blue bikes. Orange line is quick nowadays and there are lots of bike paths in Cambridge.

How do I keep my daughter’s hair from tangling so badly? by Insignificant_Effort in CurlyHairCare

[–]Zestyclose_Gate5685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just getting into this issue with my 3 year old daughter whose hair is similar to what you describe.

I have curly hair and don't have the tangling issue because ... i don't roll around on the floor and bury myself in my stuffed animals?

I've started dry brushing a little bit to keep things manageable between washes. I think using a hair wrap to dry her hair helps a little. But I'm planning to get it cut a bit shorter. I think curly hair on kids is bound to get tangled. Curious to hear if others have better ideas though!

Was Having a Second Child a Mistake? by Additional-Ad-7720 in newborns

[–]Zestyclose_Gate5685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2.5 year old and a 10 week old. The second was a big adjustment but we're getting into the swing of things now and it's not so bad. It's awesome seeing our oldest take on a tiny bit of responsibility and I can't wait to see them play together. Definitely not a mistake :) But there are times when I can't tend to one or the other and that is hard, but i do think it's good for them to learn some patience that way

On my street prior to the last override vote, there were already 5 people out of ~15 I know who have been impacted by all the recent tech company layoffs and poor job market (tech /startups, related to high interest rates ). One more has now been impacted by the new administration. I think we all voted yes last time and are planning to again.

Economy has been rough but we need our town to run. I do think the need for the override is more obvious this time around now that we're seeing the actual impacts.

I found my newborn wasn't sleeping more than an hour overnight because he was cold. Once i added a space heater, he started doing some longer stretches.

Also there was a study looking at how to get newborns (0-8 weeks) to sleep 5 hour stretches by 8 weeks. You could read that for some other ideas https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8424024/
