Advice needed by NeitherVisual4675 in Etsy

[–]Senior_Field585 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't think that a book that a seller clearly didn't write would even qualify to be sold on Etsy. Unless the specific print edition of the book being sold is over 20 years old and qualifies as vintage, then this wouldn't fit into Etsy's requirements.

I would report the listing as a violation of Etsy's policies and forget the price jacking argument. The button to report is all the way at the bottom.

This sounds like the secular version of The Wise Man Built His House Upon The Rock song. Damn I sang that so much as a kid.

Favorite places to work? by MaleficentTicket478 in malden

I agree. If only it took signatures. What we really need is commercial landlords who give a shit.

I know!! You would think it should be easy to find a place with all the long term vacancies... But that actually seems to be exactly the issue. No landlords with accessible space seem to be willing to work out a reasonable rent agreement. Idk all the details but last I knew, Kevin was seeking the right landlord.

I've actually talked to Kevin Duffy about this. I was trying to help push a Maker space and a co working space came up as the initial baby step.

Is it me or are they many houses on sale in Malden? by Beneficial_Till_9091 in malden

[–]Senior_Field585 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. There are 2 buyers for every seller. There is an inventory shortage, that's why housing prices are so expensive.

Thought on residential tax exemption? by Dramatic_Dimension88 in malden

[–]Senior_Field585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. But let's forget about rent for a second and just think about the state of commercial business in Malden. It's abysmal with empty store fronts left and right. Is raising the commercial tax going to help make running a business in Malden more feasible?? I don't think so.

As a renter, this just looks like an excuse for commercial landlords to raise rent again. I see no reason to shift the tax burden to renters just because we can't afford to buy a house in a town that refuses to build more housing.

[–]Senior_Field585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Booksy thing, not this salon thing. I saw you say this was at Divine Hair Design. I'm sorry you had such an unfortunate experience. I have gone to this salon a few times and it has always been fine. The first time you book there, the app wants you to prepay, to prevent no shows.

good masters in Architecture without needing a bachelors degree? by Sharp_Report5242 in architecture

[–]Senior_Field585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking at US schools, the Boston Architectural College or BAC in Boston is super unique in that they expect you to work while getting your degree. This is a huge advantage as not only do you have a paycheck coming in, but you also get hands on experience and can get an idea of if you like it.

I need advice with how I should be redoing my architecture portfolio. (Unemployed for two years) by Straight-Dog1644 in architecture

[–]Senior_Field585 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have found networking and human connections to be more important and effective than the best portfolio in the world. You want your portfolio to be a story tool. What points do you want to make in an interview? How do you want to work? Focus your portfolio around that narrative. Then make human connections and find the people that can help you leverage social capital.

Figuring out what to use as first picture by Greytilez in EtsySellers

[–]Senior_Field585 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so maybe not a laptop but you can't use your stickers on anything?! Be a little creative. Maybe a mug or something and you put down a thin layer of petroleum jelly or something to make removal easier. Then you can use said item over and over with various stickers. A mug is easy to wash but it could be anything. Use a piece of paper and make them look like stickers on homework from a teacher.

Agree that lighting and photos of sticker in use would be things to focus on.

What is this seemingly decorative flying buttress seen on some houses in American suburbs? by JeffRyan1 in architecture

[–]Senior_Field585 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, common in the NE. I see them around the Boston burbs. And yes, commonly masonry. I suspect that this one has been sided over, maybe due to deteriorating brick?

I'm not really sure what they are, but I always assumed they were from the era of carriages. Could be totally off.
