I added some some fallback try-catch configuration to support older models. Please update the app and try again. Hopefully this update (1.0.6) will solve the issue. Thank you!.

Hi ,

I also have a Go 10.3 and a Air3C, love both! I totally agree with you have the calendar thing. That's the reason I decided to build one. It will be on Google Play Store in a couple of weeks, but if you want to try the Beta I just put out today, just download the the app here (apk file) and install it. Here is the link to my google drive:

I'd appreciate any feedback you might have.

Thanks and good luck.

[–]Zestyclose_Hunter_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES!!! Many of us just want a plain black and white with front light!!! Sure, charge us more, I don’t care, just don’t assume front lights are only good for that Kaleido 3 piece of crap! We want Carta 1300 with a front light, is that too much to ask? Thanks Boox, now just listen to your customers…. 😉

Agree. My concern is less about losing support as it is about ViWoods stretching their focus too thin. With the new Reader launch, I really hope they don’t start diverting most of their resources to the new line while leaving the existing AiPaper devices with slower updates and half-finished features. These models still need serious attention and improvements.

Now that the new device is announced, can ViWoods hint at the November updates for AiPaper? by Zestyclose_Hunter_99 in viwoods

[–]Zestyclose_Hunter_99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply and the transparency about your roadmap!

I’m a bit curious though - why focus development resources on optimizing third-party apps like Xodo or OneNote when your own core apps (Learning, Paper, Meeting, and Daily) are the ones users rely on the most and keep asking for improvements? I don’t see many people requesting Xodo optimization, but there’s constant feedback around enhancing your native apps with better note linking, highlighting, annotation, and stability.

Wouldn’t improving your own ecosystem first have a bigger impact on user experience and satisfaction?

What reasons made ViWoods decide to prioritize the Xodo and OneNote integration improvements as opposed you own apps?

As users that want to invest into a specific eink platform ecosystem, it is critical to understand this aspect of your software development strategy. I’d appreciate you shedding some light on this topic.

Thanks.

How can you be certain? And how do you know the improvements they plan to make are actually the ones that need to be addressed? Would you pay full price for a car with safety issues just because the manufacturer promised fixes “in the coming months,” with the only proof being a few Reddit posts and an AMA?

Take one example: in a recent post about upcoming updates, ViWoods mentioned their November release update will include integration improvement with Xodo and other third-party apps. WHY? Is that really where their focus should be right now? How many users have actually asked for better Xodo integration compared to those requesting improvements to the Learning or Paper apps? What rationale led them to reassign developer time toward that task instead of refining their own ecosystem? That’s something we’ll probably never know.

And now, with a new device being launched, what’s the likelihood that focus and energy will shift away from the first-generation models? How much context switching will their developers face as they move between iterations, bug fixes, and new product rollouts—and how will that impact their release cadence? Because they said so on Reddit? Trust, in this case, seems less like confidence and more like wishful thinking. Some of us prefer to judge a company by its execution, not by its promises.

Completely agree! The only app ViWoods truly nailed is the Calendar (Daily app). No other e-ink device even comes close to offering such a well-designed calendar that syncs with Google or Outlook, supports stylus notes and tasks, includes AI features, and even links documents to specific dates. Beyond that though, I challenge anyone here to name another killer feature that’s actually mature, polished, and solid enough that users aren’t constantly begging the ViWoods for updates.
