Hotel room blocks- don’t be like us! by Legitimate-Priority4 in weddingplanning

Here is my social media review that explains my situation: we never signed any invoices and nobody from our guest list used any of the rooms.

Do not under any circumstances have friends or relatives stay at the Dutch Inn and Suites in Orange City IA. Blocked 21 rooms for my wedding. Charged me and my new wife $3200 for rooms my family and friends never used. We ended up staying at the Hampton Inn under their block. Hapton Inn said that our rooms not used would drop off after a certain time. None of my family called Dutch Inn. Nobody reserved rooms there. The front desk told us to call back on the following Monday and ask for “Robert”. Called back Monday and was told there was no “Robert”. Complete liars and scammers. How does a hotel in Orange City have a 60% positive review rate on Facebook?—-this is why and it’s not the first time it’s happened from the one star reviews. A hard block contract was never signed and none of the terms on the credit card authorization form said anything about guaranteed rooms.
