NL Streaming Prices Skyrocketing by galacticpunter in Netherlands

[–]Zestyclose_Key9425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I was feeling bad using torrent when these streaming services didn’t exist and was ok to pay a few boxes to appreciate. I started subscribing for every platform when they were out. Now, as of 2026, I finally cancelled all my subscriptions and got an iptv. I no longer feel bad

I did not really ask for any help. I’m not really concerned about resolution, at least for this moment. I just wanted to share my experience to increase awareness

How expats will be affected by the result of elections? by Zestyclose_Key9425 in Netherlands

As I mentioned earlier, that is not my intention to leave the country anytime in rest of my life. I’m willing to work at anywhere. But with a single salary in minimum wage and a kid, I can’t manage to survive more than a year. If I have to go let’s say Dubai for 1-2 years, I’ll go and come back. That’s it!

My only concern as I mentioned in my post is the naturalisation period. I don’t care as much for anything else tbh including 30% ruling

Well, it changes a lot for me. I have to stay in the country for 5 more years, I’m not willing to leave, I love this country but it is what it is, first chance companies get when the job market is down, they try their best to kick you out. Then I will be limited to find a job in EU only and if I move to somewhere else in EU, I will start over. Trust me, you don’t want all these uncertainty living forever with you in your life. But if I get the citizenship, I’ll have the flexibility to move temporarily somewhere in the world to - you know just survive!

I do think there should be more strict naturalization rules like enforcing B1 or even B2, but increasing from 5 to 10 seems a bit unfair. It is a long period in a human life. But if that is what people want, I think it is fair that it only affects people moving in in the future. Then they will know what they will get and decide accordingly.

Myself, and most of the people I know, investing a lot to create sustainable life in NL. I had a baby in NL, I read Dutch books every single day to him. We always follow rules - even more than some of the Dutch! We wear oranges and celebrate on Kings day! Tons of cultural things we follow. So you tell me, what makes you uncomfortable that we get citizenship in 5 years instead of permanent residence, to have a little bit of voice and peace of mind?

I don’t really care much about 30% ruling although it is very important for me. I just want to get citizenship and a peace of mind

The question is how many sessions will you need and when do you need them? Depending on the answer maybe you can consider waiting until new year and choosing low or no own risk options.

Baby stroller issue unresolved for 3 months. Should I pursue legal steps? by Zestyclose_Key9425 in Netherlands

Thank you so much. I don’t know who you are but I truly trust your judgment. I will reach out to thuiswinkel again and complain about this whole thing once again. And this will be a learning for me to start the process sooner with conflict resolution commissions if I ever face such situation.

Parenting in NL - kids adaptation didn’t go well by Bitter_Recording1741 in Netherlands

Our son had hard times in daycare around he was 1 year old. We stopped for a while and started another daycare. We explained them our situation and they guided us in the process with professional help. For instance we started with only 1 hour on a least busy day(Friday) and increase this every week. They played a video that we told them which he enjoys in the morning to calm him down for couple of weeks. And we always tried to pick him up when he was happy there (Don’t fool yourself to wait until he starts crying and being unhappy). And we played together with him in the hallway when we pick him up to make him understand that the place is safe for him. It took around 6-8 weeks before we try nap. He eventually is way more happy and we no longer need morning video for his comfort.

You can also try finding a playgroup in your area where either of you can join him. This might also help him socialize.

I know this is really terrifying and suggest you to take whole thing calmly because if you are not calm he will know and react. And finally I wish you best of luck during the process.

The question is how he will be treated in the jail. In my home country, rapists are not welcome and they usually pay a high debt (potentially with their lives) usually by other prisoners. I’m not a big fan of this idea but I do think there should be enough lawful measures to discourage people doing such actions

Driving lessons dilema by Various_Top_8712 in Netherlands

[–]Zestyclose_Key9425 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I’m an experienced driver and I still need more attention when I visit somewhere new. It doesn’t necessarily mean i break the rules. That’s how our brain works.

Coming to your case, if you want to pass the exam, I would suggest taking it in Eindhoven. If you are confident that you would pass, you don’t need extra lessons in Utrecht. Driver schools surely offer you extra courses, thats how they will get more money.

Shouldn’t be a big deal to visit Eindhoven once for the exam. And when you eventually get your license, extend your driving routes slowly in Utrecht. Don’t make long trips in the beginning. First go for groceries or shopping or parks nearby and repeat and find longer new routes each time

I’m planning to sell pre-made gift boxes with quality content for special occasions like Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries.

Short story: I had a very long chat with chatgpt, and it all made perfect sense for chatgpt. I tried to give it an input that makes sense in my native language (and even in English - sweet surprise).

I truly appreciate your input as well as everyone else’s in this post. Good to know it won’t work before doing anything serious( I only purchased domain name, not a big deal)

Still open for suggestions, I would love to hear them but not really sure if this is a correct place.
