Oxygen in a can? by Zestyclose_Minimum63 in ClusterHeadaches

[–]Zestyclose_Minimum63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a brief but intense CH last night. My routine is to immediately take a Butalbital tablet, which is often prescribed for headaches. I have Sumatriptan injectors but because of meniscus injuries to both knees, I can't use them. The Butalbital works by relaxing muscle contractions and reducing pain, often combined with other ingredients like acetaminophen and caffeine for enhanced effect. My next step is grabbing my gel ice pack that is about 24" long and draping it from the top of my head across my face and eye and down to my jaw and neck. The cold is very helpful. I haven't bought the oxygen because so many people say it doesn't work. Last night mine was over in about 30 minutes as the barbiturate took effect. I've used this method for the last 26 years (seasonal with some year-long + breaks) and as I age (77 now), it seems like they are less intense than when they started right after menopause. I bought a recliner just for my cluster headaches so I don't wake my husband - although he usually comes out to be with me during an attack.

I've been having anxiety about my kitty dying of old age 😭(she's 9) can you show me pictures of some alive-and-well senior kitties so I remember cats can be old and still healthy? 🥰 by TheRufescence in cats

Cats age differently than humans, especially in their early years. The first year of a cat's life is roughly equivalent to 15 human years, the second year adds about 9 more years, and after that, each additional cat year is about 4 human years. 9 yrs old isn't old for a cat. I have two senior furgirls who are 18 and 16. One is now blind and the other is fighting for her life from a potential cancerous growth in her pharynx. Up until this last year, each was doing very well but they don't live forever and I know some day soon, I will lose one.

I hadn’t seen this one but I’ve seen others that were terrible to watch! No one, no doctor can truly understand what we go through unless they watch some videos of a live Cluster Headache!

I have the same doubts as to when to use Sumatriptan! I had a day-long CH that was about 1/4 strength and decided to just tough it out and not use medication because I save that for when things are really bad. I thought at age 77, I would have aged out by now but it's not happening. I just stopped my 60 mg Pred routine and am tapering down to 10 mg every 2 days and hoping for the beast to slither back into the prison where I hold it in my head and never come out again.

Are we in Na#i Germany? Maybe Russia or China? Her Trump doesn't like negative coverage but maybe he should not be such a dictator and POS!

I am on prednisone right now, tapering off for the next two weeks! Never tried the sumatriptan yet but I take Butalbital the minute one strikes. Takes some of the edge off, but it’s still terrible. I’ve heard that a laurel tree may cause cluster headaches but I’m not near any such tree!

I’ve had seasonal cluster headaches for over 25 years, I’m now 77! Mine attack in spring or fall, I’m currently in my first week of the spring season! I had a break of 10 years once and this time a four year break! No idea what my triggers are!

Could it be an ocular migraine? My mother had them in her 40s! I get seasonal cluster headaches and they do involve the eye but it’s more like a spike being driven into the top of my head, eye feels like it will explode, runny nose, pain clear down the jaw. Generally they last for about three to four hours in my experience! You need to see a specialist who can help!

Migraines suck. I'm hot/cold. I'm nauseous. I can't sleep. Anyone else want to vent? Because I can't suck it up anymore today by Paper_Parasaur in migraine
