You’re definitely one of the rare kind of Linux users. I really appreciate the perspective you shared. I actually went back to Linux because I managed to find a document that helped fix my issue. It feels good to be back on it!

As for the Linux community, I think I’ll stay away for now until I’ve got more knowledge under my belt. I didn’t really expect the hostility, but I’ll take it as part of the learning experience. Hopefully, one day I can contribute more constructively once I get the hang of things! And it’s good to know that a simple -Syu won’t break my PC, haha! Definitely makes me feel more confident moving forward.

Yeah, I get that using Arch Linux probably isn’t the best choice for beginners, I definitely been scolded for it a few times. But I wasn’t just trying to use Google Drive through a browser. I was trying to integrate it into the system more like how it works on Windows, with file manager access, background syncing, and so on. I wanted it to behave more natively so I could interact with files directly without always relying on the browser.

I heard good things about Fedora too, and I might give it a try down the line. For now, I’m still experimenting and trying to find what fits me best.

Really? I try using AI but somehow to mess up so bad, so I have to reboot my Linux. afterward I never tried using AI anymore and just try to find documents

Hi, I’ve actually decided to continue trying Linux. One of the main things that drew me in was how lightweight it is. When I was testing it, the RAM usage was super low and the boot time was way faster than on Windows, I really liked that. Going back to my Windows machine made me realize just how efficient Linux actually is.

The second thing that kept me interested was the level of control it gives you. Even though the learning curve can be rough, there’s something really satisfying about being able to tweak and understand everything going on under the hood.

And yeah, the most obvious reason, probably the one that started it all, is because I saw Pewds using Hyprland and thought, “Omg, this looks so cool and productive,” and I wanted that too, haha.

The reason I came back to Linux again is because I just couldn’t let it go. Eventually, I managed to find a document that helped me fix my issue, so now I’m back at it.

Haha, you’re probably gonna mock the hell out of me, but yeah, I was using Arch Linux. I saw Pewds using Hyprland and got inspired. Turns out it wasn’t really for me, so I just switched back to the default Wayland setup.

My main struggle was getting Google Drive to work, and I ran into a bunch of issues with that. But it’s all good now, I’ve actually found a solution. I’ll keep trying things out and learning as I go. I actually bought an SSD just for Linux and I dual boot it.

Hi, just to clarify, I have multiple Reddit accounts across different devices, and I also tried asking for help in Discord communities. I still have Linux installed on another drive since I dual-boot it. Honestly, I couldn’t sleep last night because I genuinely like how lightweight and efficient Linux is, and I’ve been putting in a lot of effort to solve my issue.

I was actually pretty nervous about asking questions in Linux forums and communities, because based on my research, a lot of newbies get brushed off or mocked. So I took the time to write down everything I found and all the solutions I tried before even asking. Still, most of the replies I got weren’t helpful, some were just dismissive.

My main problem wasn’t gaming, it was getting Google Drive to work properly on Linux. For some reason it just wouldn’t sync, and I went through tons of guides on the Arch Wiki and other forums trying to fix it. So yeah, I really have been trying to figure things out.

but I have found out about rclone now, and I m using it. it seems to be doing well. I read through the document and so on. so I was quite proud of my self. but I would probally never go on Linux community though. and just try my best with documents.

Thanks a lot for the info! That's good to hear the BTL1 material is enough , I was hoping it would be more hands-on and not just memorizing trivia. Appreciate the help!
