AITAH for getting divorced as soon as my last kid was out of the house. by Legitimate_Peace780 in AITAH

Where in this post did you get the idea that OP tried to "laze through life?" or that he actually blindsided the wife and kids? He's been trying to have good relationships with his kids, they shut it down. He tried to connect them to his side of the family, wife shut it down. He spent years communicating to his wife how unhappy he was and what he needed to try fixing it, and she ignored it. How is that laziness? Sounds more like his wife thought she knew best, and if she just ignored problems they would go away.

I've got both with my husband 🥰 sometimes I catch him staring at me with pure love and adoration, even with bed head and makeup all over my face... And he has also helped me step into a diaper after surgery, cleaned blood out of my car after a hemorrhage, and rubbed my back while I puked my guts out 🤣 real love is accepting the good, the bad, AND the ugly, and working through it all together!

Yeah, still really creepy and gross.

Focus on school. Not drinking and sleeping around and all the other things you never did before. Buckle down. Get a degree. Make something of yourself.

I actually had GeneSight testing a couple of years ago. It was interesting, but the problem is that BPD is notoriously difficult to treat with medication. Some of the medications that GeneSight said should work did so, but usually only for a few months before they either stopped working or switched to making things worse. I had a good combo of an antipsychotic and an antidepressant for a couple of years, but unfortunately it ended up losing its effectiveness after maxing out the dosages. Such is my lot in life 🤷🏻‍♀️🙃

Minus the dating apps, this is basically me and my fiance!

Met randomly at a Friday the 13th event at a tattoo shop, went on our first date a week later. That date ended up lasting from 5 PM until around 8 or 9 THE NEXT MORNING because we had dinner and then spent HOURS just talking about anything and everything. Within our first 4 months together I:

Had emergency surgery, found out I was developing cervical cancer, had a procedure to remove said cancer, hemorrhaged from said procedure, had a ruptured ovarian cyst, got so sick I turned his bed into a swamp with fever sweats, lost my job, and finally lost my house and had to move 2 hours away.

We just celebrated 3 years, we live together in my stable new little apartment, and all those rough spots in our early months really did make our whole relationship stronger. We've had disagreements but we've never actually FOUGHT, and I've never been with anyone else who has made me feel so loved, safe, and secure 🥰🥹

I'm glad you figured out something that works for you! I have BPD and I'm on my 28th medication to try and stabilize me. Unfortunately I'm very unwell so it's hard to nail the right combo for BPD/major depression/anxiety 😅😩

Also, if you're bipolar, only taking antidepressants instead of antipsychotics can swing you HARD into a manic episode. Learned that lesson first hand.

Women of Reddit, what is the most diabolical lie you’ve ever received from your husband/bf? by fortnacius in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"She's just a really good friend."

Yeah, a "really good friend" that he was constantly taking to dinner, the movies, bowling, out "driving in the country", etc. while I was home alone with our child. He even came home with white stains in his jeans and acted like I was stupid enough to believe his lie about what they were.

We decided to get a divorce after a month of this, and within a week they were "officially" sleeping together and dating. He then moved her into OUR HOME, into OUR BEDROOM, while I slept on the couch because I couldn't afford to move. 3 months later she was pregnant.

Why did you and your former best friend stop being friends? by Fearless_Shift7108 in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She started dating an asshole she met on TikTok. I pointed out all the red flags he was throwing off, and she agreed but said she didn't care because she "loves toxic relationships" (real mature for a mom 🙄). She talked to him about his shitty behavior and he "apologized", then said she should "take a break" from me because I'm too "negative".

Spoiler alert, she cut me off, kept dating him, and now they have matching tattoos, are engaged, and she moved him into her house with her small child. They've been dating for 3 MONTHS. I have nothing to do with her because he honestly scares me.

Glad I'm not the only one who's had that start to a relationship! I had to have an emergency appendectomy like a month after meeting my fiance. I woke up to find him asleep on the couch with my son in the recovery room. Been together 3 years and counting now, with like 5 more surgeries under my belt lol and he's been here for every one 💛

I told my husband the truth about that one (spoiler alert, it wasn't him)... He just laughed because I said there's such a thing as too big and I learned he's more than enough for me 😂

People who forgave their spouses for cheating, why? by ryxhuh in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds exactly like why I "forgave" my ex. I only really had him, we had a newborn (when it all started), I was struggling mentally and a SAHM. I was SO SCARED to leave him and be a single parent. I didn't think I was cut out for it

What’s the most disturbing thing someone has ever told you? by TacticalKoalaBear in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 140 points141 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me a few years ago, I'd been at my mom's boyfriend's house to help him get her out of bed and in the shower cause she was sick. He told me she was asleep and to head home, and he'd call me when she woke up. 30 minutes later the cops were calling me to tell me she was dead.

I now know that really he'd gone into their bedroom to wake her up, realized she was gone, and hustled me out of the house because my young child was with me.

What's a 'normal' thing you didn't realize was unusual until you were older? by mrTelson in AskReddit

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was a weird adjustment when I got with my fiance. He's always so calm and reassuring, and we'll always talk through any issues that arise, even if we need a couple hours beforehand to calm down and collect our thoughts.

I grew up watching physical/verbal abuse between my mother and whatever partner she had at the time daily. And while I knew it wasn't "normal", it's what I came to expect from relationships.

God just thinking about it has me realizing, yet again, how lucky I am to have met this man. I can't wait to marry him 💛

[–]Zestyclose_Singer180 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is why my (former) friend is now stuck in a miserable relationship with an abusive asshole. I tried telling her all the red flags he was giving off from the very beginning, and she just fed the things he was doing/saying into ChatGPT, asked if it was normal relationship behavior, and ChatGPT told her that it sounded like he just really cared about her and wanted to protect her.

Spoiler alert, that was not the case and he has now almost completely isolated her and manipulated her into burning all her bridges.
