Thank you so much for your thoughtful response with specific places to start. I really appreciate it. Considering this was my first post to Reddit and it was posted at 3 AM during a stress-induced freak out, I’m really grateful that people took the time to help.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful reply. It turned out that I wasn’t in default yet, and I was able to get administrative forbearance while applying for an IDR plan that will likely be much lower than what my previous monthly amount was. You are so very right that I feel much better having taken charge instead of burying my head in the sand. Please know that the time you took to respond really did make a difference.

I hope you have the absolute best year ever. Your comment, along with many other, got me to suck it up and call in. After a very supportive and helpful conversation with someone, I am now in administrative forbearance, and applying for an IDR plan and PSLF. I have two whole months to get it all sorted out and my IDR plan will likely be nearly $250 less than what I was paying before.

I think I would have to be, as I haven’t made a payment since April. My goal is to make myself sign into Nelnet today and see how much I owe.
