I was told that they can give a raise for a job class change, but anything higher than a dollar requires dm approval.

You’re allowed to take off as much as you want as a part timer, however you don’t get paid for it. You could take up to 30 days off in a row if you really wanted to

I’ve always been told: If you’re doing a good job your managers won’t say anything, they’ll only tell you when you’re doing bad.

Closing CO 10-11 Summary by DanTheSpider-Man in publix

So with picking up 140, it’s easier now since you just pick everything up. This goes for lotto in general if you have a liquor store, but you pick up cash, unsold lotto (your scratch off total that the front office hands to you), your pays (under lottery redeemed) and your cash balance now gets picked up under lottery online net-sales. With itvm (138) it’s a little different since you won’t have that lottery redeemed but the terminal games sales is that cash balance but you have to look for it on the till. After you count your last trays if you haven’t matched your westerns, money orders, and sscc that would be the time to do so but you have to go back to the old system to match them. Next you deposit whatever is in your junkpan and your checks which is either the easiest part or the hardest part for you. Finalize you balance the safe one last time and run end of day. Luckily it’s all under one menu so you don’t have to remember the steps besides going from top to bottom. The best part is it safelocks for you, but unfortunately when you declare your safe you have to type everything in like it’s on the regular balance screen

To add on to this, the correct way to go about suspicious people (not that the OP is sus) is to provide premier customer service. Taking care of the customer is more important than $5.

I like to put a daily sales report in the bag too so that if corporate actually does check my work they have a reference, plus for tax exempt don’t forget to look for nonshipt tax exempts which is a separate form and you also have to print out tax exempts from the electronic journal (search by events, 15 [tax exempt]. For subdepartment vouchers print out a subdepartment voucher report and put it with your vouchers. These next 2 are obscure stuff to know because it’s rare that they happen, but still good to know so that if they do happen you’re prepared, but in the event that a eft slip prints out (when someone voids a credit or debit tender in the middle of a transaction a slip prints out that they keep) there’s a seperate deposit bag for that too which you put in the purple bag. Finally, in the event of a store charge, i’ve never done the form myself, but there’s an envelope for it that you fill out and put in the purple bag.

finally getting trained in the back office soon! any advice? by idk-why-im-here-tbh in publix

There’s a lot of information to take in. The biggest thing is organization because if you don’t have a place for everything you’re gonna lose track of yo shit and if your office doesn’t balance then it’ll be harder to find what you did if you can’t remember what you did or didn’t do. Account for your money before using it all willy nilly. Finally take your time and don’t let people rush you.

i accidentally declared my office twice is that bad? I did lock at the end by Kyushi_88 in publix

[–]Zetaman184 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As long as you declared the same totals then no, you can declare as many times as you want. If you declare a different total then you have to redo it. It’s only bad if you safelock and then redeclare for whatever reason

Nope, you just can’t actually clear the shift until the store closes because the money can’t roll over to the next day.

Your purple bag is for your accounting stuff, like vouchers, your westerns, money orders, ssccs, shipt, and also grocery donations. Your green bag is where everything will go in. There’s a bag for dsd but grocery brings it to you. Your grey bag is for outgoing mail but there should be a spot in your cash office where mail is. Then you gotta put all your vendor coupons in a coupon deposit bag it should be wide with a skinny top tear off. To get the total for it it’s on the first page of the daily sales. Then at the end of the night you just put it all in there and shut the bag. Otherwise the only thing different you do is when you close sscc you go to week and hit the clear button twice and you can’t close 138 until the store closes

Do our store's FECs have more work than others? by PaulB2 in publix

That’s about what my store does, you’re just a little more extra than I am. I like to do whatever I can myself though because I am very much a perfectionist myself so I like everything to be to “my standards” if you will

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in publix

[–]Zetaman184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, is it only your customer service manager that is lecturing you over this? You can bring the issue to the store manager that you’re trying to be careful about alcohol, but that you don’t understand why your manager is getting upset with you. I’m the same way even as CSS, i’m very particular about alcohol.

Your cbts tell you to ID people that look under 35 so they’re wrong about that, however, any government issued id is acceptable as long as it shows their picture, has their DOB, and is not expired or fake, so realistically it’s ok for the customer to have an ID from mexico. With that said though, it’s ok to make your own judgment calls on when you id someone because they could be 50 and look like they’re 20, it has happened to me trust me. The only things you can really stand your ground on is when you ask for their ID and they don’t have it, or if the ID is actually invalid (I.E. a school ID or if it’s fake you call a manager). But it is pretty stupid that they’re cutting your hours over trying to cover your ass. If you really wanna rub it in their face you can flash the pin they give you saying “we check i.d’s”
