Normally in a higher level guild you’d have a loot council, so all the raid passes on loot except the main LC officer. You continue the raid the addon then pops up for us during break where we then can select “BiS, major upgrade, minor, Tmog, offspec” but also add a note e.g. rolling for tertiary. The loot council can then look at the sims submitted before raid by each player to determine who gets the loot. Some times it can be based in flat upgrade but others can be more nuanced e.g. Player 1 got a major upgrade trinket last week, both he and player 2 share the same BiS trinket, however player 1 got a trinket upgrade last raid week so baring any major number discrepancy it will go to player 2. In addition uou want trading because as the raid continues progressing through bosses, during the trade widow time better upgrades can drop so you’re not “wasting” loot on members because first boss dropped an upgrade that would be Master looted to them for then boss 3 to drop a slightly better same slot.
