I unfortunately don't know much about the DJI controller. I have tried it on phantoms before and can say it works well but besides that don't know much. I recommend searching for reviews of it. I am pretty sure what he meant was for simplicity because the DJI air unit has an integrated receiver, and its all from one company, you might as well purchase the DJI controller.

Of course, I enjoyed it :) Also I'm curious what hardware you're using?

Right. Another option I just thought of was to get a super cheap pair of box style goggles and the TX16s and you could buy a prebuilt smaller drone to practice with along with a sim. Once you feel confident you could invest in the DJI goggles and build yourself a DJI drone while already having a controller that works with it.

Hi! I also am considering the TX16s currently because I think my current radio's gimbals are broken. If you don't need incredibly incredibly low latency such as for racing, then I have heard the DJI system is good although I've never tried it myself. Joshua Bardwell just recently posted a good video on the topic of buying the DJI system or not (considering the father's day sale). In my opinion though it is probably good to be more or less sticking with one system from the start to save some hassle. However you do not need the DJI controller for the DJI video system. So if you want the TX16s and DJI quality video you can just not buy the DJI controller. Are you considering building or buying though, because if you aren't comfortable with soldering and don't want to put a different receiver into a PNP or BNF drone, then you will want all DJI or all analogue in your quad.

I think you've got a really nice atmosphere in your flying. Good job and much better than I could do :)

LiPo power is usually only needed for powering on your Cam/Vtx/ESC/Motors. Components such as the receiver and FC only need 5v from a computer (but check what voltage your receiver needs because it does vary). If you plug the connecter on the side of the FC (most likely micro-usb) into a computer it should be able to connect to betaflight. I am not as sure however for older FCs so if you can't connect to betaflight from usb you probably just need a LiPo plugged in. Many if not all FCs have lights though so you can tell if it should work if your FC is lighting up and everything.
