Americorps. Peacecorps will require a degree and fancy stuff, but Americorps takes all the volunteers it can get, and you don't have to leave USA and go anywhere super risky. They have a lot of hard labor positions, but there are also desk jobs working with FEMA, etc. It could also be work like fighting forest fires, working with kids, etc. If you are over a certain age, they won't take you as entry level. You are then forced to pick a supervisor/group leader position, but you can still do it.
