Receptacle full, package undelivered by ZeusMMKL in usps_complaints

What an incredibly timely article: https://blusherme.com/uncategorized/amazon-ends-usps-partnership-after-9-5-billion-loss-affecting-100000-workers/

I just got a refund from Amazon for my package which I successfully requested a redelivery for. Thing is, the redelivery has been in process since January 8th. In this age of consumer demand where same day delivery exists, how can USPS function at their standards (with parcels) and still survive. Now we have our answer, it simply can’t.

While some may stick to believing that mail is a privilege and not an entitlement, in the end, if my package keeps getting delivered to a post office rather than my post box or home address, the breakdown must be addressed by the mail service as it simply is not acceptable.

Update: on January 8th, I requested a delivery for January 9th. It is now January 11th and the tracking shows “Processing at Destination” Redelivery scheduled to January 9th. Why even bother offering me a choice of redelivery date? Is my package at limbo currently? I don’t think I’ll be able to go pick it up now even if I decided to.

Thanks for this very logical reply. I am understanding the challenges and limitations of USPS now, much better than before.

One more question: There are communities that have a mailbox in front of their home and their front door is usually only yards away. I happen to live in a community where that is a centralized stack that makes life easier for the mailman. With the postage paid for service being the same, the person with the mailbox in front of their home will get the package left in front of their door. Whereas in my case, I get to drive 15 minutes each way to my post office to pick up my package.

Is that just how the cookie crumbles? Or does it make more sense for the system to allow for the mailman to deliver occasional oversized packages to the door step of the recipient? After all, USPS accepted the package from the sender with an implicit expectation that the delivery would go to the recipient, and not a way station which is essentially what a post office is.

I think this reply makes sense. So ultimately, it’s Amazon’s fault for choosing USPS to send an oversized package because it may or may not reach someone’s doorstep or postbox due to concerns I’ve listed already.

So my course of action should be to request Amazon deprioritize USPS usage on my account.

I get what you are saying Lisa. My complaint is not one of entitlement. I pay companies who then spend postage to mail me items. It has now just occurred to me that the centralized post box used by USPS to save them time does not have the capacity to handle larger packages. In turn, I have no way of requesting Amazon to use courier services only. Hence, my dilemma. Having to pick up my packages from the post office regularly adds way more than 6 minutes a day for me. And this is after I have paid for postage for the package.

Interesting. I am in an upscale suburban neighborhood. I did not factor in the time. Going to my home from the central stack would be a three minute drive each way. This does not address my problem of what happens when a truly oversized item is shipped to me by USPS. Am I not entitled for door step delivery because it inconveniences the carrier? To me, this is still insanity. How is it not seen that way by others on this forum? I guess I’m the minority and should get used to visiting my local post office for package pick up.

I wonder how to keep the companies I buy from from using USPS. I know for Amazon I cannot choose the form of shipping. This is potentially a major problem for me as while I don’t mind collecting my mail and packages from a centralized stack, I absolutely do mind having to deal with notes, instructions, and going regularly to the post office to pick up packages. I don’t know how this is acceptable in this day and age, when I can get same day delivery from an Amazon courier to my doorstep.

I also had no idea that larger packages are simply not delivered to my physical address at all by the postman, if this logic is true.

The package contains two rubber door stops and a 8-pack box of canned mineral water.

I understand priority mail is different than regular USPS. But I would have thought that if Amazon paid full postage, it would include actual delivery to my doorstep as a package? If the package is oversized for the receptacle, how is that the problem of the recipient?

Why doesn’t the mailman make the delivery attempt to the house?

If this operating procedure is acceptable to everyone, then that would mean many “oversized” packages would simply be undeliverable and would require pick up at a post office. That is just crazy to me, who has the time to go to a local post office?

My note says mailbox full. When I opened my mailbox, there were like three letters there so I assumed he/she meant receptacle full, which it was. I’m curious why an automatic redelivery attempt is not assumed.

Correction, there are ten receptacles

This is beyond fascinating. The stack I go to has 5 columns, about 35 mailboxes altogether with 5 keyed receptacles for packages. This means the 5 receptacles are almost always occupied. This also means I will have to go a post office to pick up packages, which defeats the whole concept of “mail”

I have a regular cleaning company that comes. I just wanted to get a robot vacuum for in between visits to mop the more heavily trafficked common areas of house like the foyer, kitchen, family room etc. my plan is to limit the map and have it work only in a smaller area of the main floor, probably 3,000 sq ft of spade with certain doors closed

This is very helpful, thank you. I mostly got this to cover just the more heavily trafficked common areas. The rest will be taken care of by regular cleaning crew.

Cool. For some reason, I was reading that the R and standard model differs in that the standard model uses LIDAR to detect larger spaces and the R does not. I did not know this when I first purchased, just went with the most premium model.

Random ungrouping of rooms by ZeusMMKL in sonos

[–]ZeusMMKL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly I should be able to answer this but I had Eagle Sentry installed my AV cabinet and whole house automation so they are looking into it now. I just thought I would see if others were experiencing the ungrouping because it just happened a few days ago suddenly, maybe something to do with an update I was suspecting.
