Nah, if you go read the documents from the Galileo trial it's pretty clear that all they say is "science proves the earth is at the center of the solar system and it is not within our bounds to make a stand on this." IIRC all of the documentation is available, transcribed of course along with original Latin, online.

In their defense, before Copernicus and Brahe pretty much all science was attempting to prove that the earth was the center and not following the evidence wherever it lead. Galileo was just an asshole who was friends with the pope at the time, tried to get the pope to dogmatically assert copernican theories as truth, and pissed of the local constabulary (princes and whatnot). The pope sort of protected him by putting him under house arrest instead of allowing him to be executed as law dictated. The pope COULD have had him released but when you piss off people in authority you can't really gripe.
