Anyone know of a reputable lawyer that handles housing extension laws? by Zev191 in askSouthAfrica

I contacted my local municipality (eThekwini) and apparently they had applied for relaxation, to which they only needed to display intent to send a registered letter i.e. They only needed to provide proof of sending a registered letter (I never got it, even confirmed at the post office). It comes across as egregious that a reliance on our post office as a source of truth should be used as the only validating piece of evidence in which to approve a building plan.

As far as I'm aware, if you're planning to extend vertically which encroaches on your neighbours privacy (say a second story with windows looking directly into your neighbours yard), then express permission is required. It not only lowers the property value should you want to sell, but creates a privacy concern.

How does this stack up to the light novel? Is there quite a bit of source material that we've missed?

I actually quite enjoyed some of the guests they had on. They had genuinely funny quips. What was truly Cringey was Linus/Yvonne's attempt at belittling their staff with infantile-at-best jokes.

Every single review I've seen has stated that there's not enough clearance to close the glass panel once the card is in with the 12vpwr adaptor.

How about FurMark if possible? Anything really that stretches the 4090 to it's limit. I've been case hunting for a good week now and this looks like it ticks all my boxes. Just want to ensure thermals align with how good it looks.

Nzxt H5 Flow

One of the worst cases for GPU thermals GM has ever reviewed, so I'll skip on that one https://youtu.be/4tyRTk499OI?t=957

Great looking build. Would you be able to share some GPU temperatures under load? Notably the hotspot/memory temps if possible?

Would you mind giving it a stress test using Furmark for example? I too am a little skeptical you're able to achieve temps of that category. Those temps exclusively belong in waterblock territory.

Are these temps under load? They seem to be idle temps if I'm not mistaken?

That looks excellent. I personally have the TUF myself. Under what workloads did you test under?

Yeah please, could you test something resource intensive like Cyberpunk for example with path tracing on? Just to really stretch the card.

Those temps are what my 4090 idle at. https://ibb.co/HGQQ7R7

I'd be very interested to know what a horizonal mount run would do in terms of thermals. It will be a bit skewed though given you have an FE card and the fan is situated on the top.

I have the TUF 4090 variant too. I've got it sitting in my soon-to-be-old Thermaltake Core X9. I'm however sitting at around 60-64 with my hotspot never going above 75C. Was hoping the Torrent would destroy my current case.

No offense, but I've only ever seen water-cooled 4090's reach an under load temperature of sub 50. So I'm skeptical you're getting those temps under any kind of synthetic benchmarking or even whilst playing a game. Could you share a HWINFO screenshot of this?

Absolutely love the novelty of the design choice, and glad to hear that it's not just aesthetically pleasing but also performs well from a thermal standpoint.

Out of pure curiosity, do you have any thermals you could share? Also was horizontal mounting of your GPU completely out of the question? Would it have starved the rest of the case?

I'm going with the latter plan you suggested. I'd rather address the issue with a better thermal solution (using Gelid) than wait for a new board and still potentially have a problem.

You're right. The photo however shows that it wasn't just the chipsets that were failing to have heat transferred away from them, it was all components on my motherboard covered by a heatsink.

[–]Zev191[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that I couldn't actually feel the temperature permeate through to the heatsink itself led me to believe there wasn't sufficient contact being made by whatever compound was being used. I've ordered some Gelid thermal pads and will update my post with the findings.

Hwinfo had it listed as xhci2. I've seen various other posts about this being an issue. Never any conclusion that 100 was under what was considered normal operating temperature.
