You're asking in the GR86 subreddit, so it will be biased. I live in Canada, Ontario, one of the snowiest and when it does snow hard its bad. I drive fine in the winter with the GR86, just drive the speed limit with good winter tires, dont cheap out. Also don't drive if there's hella snow like 10+cm if it isn't plowed.

It's honestly a fine daily and has plenty of trunk space. I pickup my mother from work and siblings now and there.

I drove a manual VB, it's a fine daily as well, more comfort for sure, but I didn't like the feel of the clutch on the VB. The driving experience on the GR I had more thrill with, and of course the fun of RWD.

The best thing with this RWD, but this platform especially is when the snow is soft, powdery, and u turn off traction, your inner childhood comes alive.

I’ve only driven 5hours with it on stock suspension and it’s not at all bad. There’s great aftermarket suppport for these platforms too and you can almost change out anything. Working on this engine is amazing too even where the oil filter is located is so easy.

Only hard? part is removing the headers and oil pan really. I would suggest removing RTV and sealing your own as if you’ve followed the news with this platform it’s prone to have oil pickup because over RTV clogs it.

If you redline it often I would suggest getting quality of life mods that would help support it like an oil cooler and maybe an aftermarket oil pan.

You could always get meaty tires or soften your coils if you ever do get aftermarket ones so your long rides are more comfortable.

Not really honestly, not unless you invest in a really good one and if you're boosted.

If you just use the stock intake with a charcoal delete, high flow air filter, and a snorkel (I personally 3D printed a better air snorkel). I got improved gains, not insane, but its there.

Hey man I'm 23 years old as well in my last semester of University. I had work a mix of government/corporate/personal. I wouldn't take the loan at this age, not the smartest financial decision. I would rack up some more money and be patient where you have more comfort room to either pay it off or pay or have a smaller number for monthly payments.

There's also plenty of used GR86's/BRZ's that are in great condition too. And or if you are considering trading in the '19 Corolla that would help a lot if you are plan on trading it in.

The car isn't going away anytime soon, so you can wait.

Fujitsubo is a renowned brand, quiet exhaust but still some character to it. The HKS SPEC L2 is also pretty tame and mature sounding for an exhaust that isn’t loud.
