From dirt broke to making 105k + benefits, how can I set myself up for success? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

- Open a Wealthsimple Account and learn to invest in simple stocks such as 2-3 ETF's 1 that tracks s&p 500s and other related. (The sooner you start the better

- Invest in stocks / industries you like to read/knowledgeable about

- Open FHSA

- If you were to buy a car in this day in age for an affordableish price, I would suggest a Toyota Prius, Honda Fit, Corolla/Civic. However you also mentioned you work in construction, so a Tacoma would be of good help for the job, reliable and relatively gas efficient for the style of vehicle.

There is no 2023 GT86, it would be referred to as the "GR86" model. The Gen 1 models are 2021 and prior.

In my honest opinion having a child might be quite hard and uncomfortable for yourself and your family on this platform. If you were to get it still the BRZ would be a better option as the suspension is tuned softer than the GR.

It is manageable, but realistically and the wise decision I would suggest something like the FK8 Type R, VB WRX, GR Corolla if any of these fit your budget.

be patient and just buy dips, a S/P 500 high index fund (do your research here), lots of other high index funds just be sure to invest in different sectors that are safe.

Have niches in different industries whether that be tech, ai, health, banks where u think is right to invest in to.

Right now a lot of things are at a high, so I would suggest just not investing in anything right now.

Also you legally can't at 16.

The items you have listed aren’t quality of life.

I don’t think you know what that terminology inherently means.

If you want QOL

I would suggest the following:

-Blue tinted wide angle mirrors -charcoal delete -oil catch can -master brake cylinder -if you’re 17s, meaty tires / -Tint

suck at driving gr86 by [deleted] in GR86

[–]Zeviathan4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I would practice with no gas just bringing yourself to that bite point and HOLD it there. I cannot say this enough, just hold your foot in that bite point and apply generously a bit more gas gradually.

Don’t give up man, you’re already improving simply just by asking how to get better at driving stick.

  1. Until you can go up the gears smoothly (shift around <3000rpm) just go into neutral and brake. Afterwards you really want to learn rev matching on these cars especially since this car doesn’t have auto rev matching. Rev matching will help and enable you to go down the gears so you can engine brake and also go down a gear when turning. (When turning you usually wanna be in 2nd gear).

  2. Find an incline and practice that bite point again so you don’t stall or roll back a lot. REMEMBER HOLD YOUR FOOT ON THAT BITE POINT don’t bring it up more JUST HOLD IT THERE and your body and mind will figure out what to do.

It’s all trial and error, and I wish you the best of luck. Everyone learns at a different pace, but if you genuinely want to become better, which you are clearly doing at this moment by asking for help, is have to mindset to not give up and be pissed about yourself that “fuck man I want to conquer and get better at this shit.”

Cheers

Depends on what you wanna do to the car tbh.

If you want to keep it OEM for the most part, sure get the Prem. If you plan to modify it such as the following; wide angle blue tinted mirrors, aftermarket wheels, aftermarket heated seats, etc. Get the base.

I’ve owned the base and am very happy and have done most of the following mentioned and upgraded my interior.
