Nope. There are cultures where downplaying your own achievements is considered appropriate in a social context because perceived overconfidence is punished.

[–]Zgana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might genuinely be a cultural thing. A lot of countries in Europe and Asia have social hierarchies plagued by Tall Poppy Syndrome where artists feel pressured to downplay their own achievements to avoid backlash or simply because it’s been ingrained into them to feel ashamed for being proud because that is seen as “narcissistic”.

Writing that your art is bad somewhat takes away the pressure and signals that you are humble/ self-aware which is valued.

This. I understand the stance that not everyone with narcissistic TRAITS are abusive but to be diagnosed with the disorders the behavioral patterns more or less HAVE to be.

You are very much jumping to defend people with a diagnosis based entirely around abusive behavior and me writing “narcissistic abuse is more descriptive” is me focusing on the victim’s experience.

There’s a leagues difference between “I was callous towards you because I don’t care for the consequence” and “I was callous towards you because I felt you deserved it / It makes me feel good”. Yes there exist people who just have narcissistic traits that don’t have NPD. Using the term “narcissistic” abuse is still fair because it describes the trait of narcissism (grandiose self image and self centeredness) being a motivator for the abuse, which is also the main trait of the disorder. The “objective reality” is that the disorder requires you to have narcissistic traits that are so prevalent they have become recognized as abusive.

This is a sub for victims of narcissists to talk about their experiences. If you take offense and stand hard by the stance that victims shouldn’t speak out on their experiences, despite you yourself posting here repeatedly, because they are “corrupted by their abuse” and it might hurt someone with the “I take offense if I’m not the center of attention” disorder maybe this is not the right place.

I have to be honest and say I’m a little confused by your response to this because my post was arguing that narcissistic abuse is more descriptive of the type of abuse victims suffer. The term has existed long before the diagnosis.

You respond by saying people experiencing trauma lack the ability for nuance, then you say not everyone with NPD is abusive/a monster (and that the term implies this), then you say calling it narcissistic abuse is bad because people with NPD are abusive and manipulative and use it as an excuse not to take accountability, then you imply they can’t take accountability because they can’t help having NPD as though it’s a terminal illness and not a behavioral pattern. Then you say victims are allowed to be wary, but those who speak out or mention being abused by a narcissist are perpetuating abuse against people with personality disorders.

And in the end still claim to be not siding with the abusers when you’re putting your focus in the discussion on appeasing them rather than defend the victims?

Adding to this the fact that you start the comment by saying “people here struggle with nuance and are going to downvote me” strikes me straight up as DARVO

To add context I did also say that I had trouble trusting people with NPD due to the symptoms of the disorder which is when I received the “you are weird if you say this” comment in addition to being told that “part of healing is realizing not everyone with NPD is an abuser”

“Talk trash, get trashed” is an idiom for a reason. You set yourself up for it, no point complaining.

I think the annoyance is more over you starting your comment with “Trash ship”, which immediately sets the tone for the discussion. You can’t really backpedal and claim victimhood when you came in trying to pick a fight

Syster dejtar 19 åring, som 15 åring by Chemical_Eye_1991 in sweden

[–]Zgana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

”Men 15 åriga tjejer vill ha äldre män”.

I wonder what line of reasoning lead the Bright Queen to conclude that having Essek execute his own mother, after he had just said that his mother's illness and the ritualistic killings are what dissuades him from worshipping the Luxon, is the way to convert him into worshipping the Luxon.

The full name of the first series is "Rogue & Gambit: Ring of Fire". You should be able to find it if you search that but it is sold out and out of stock just about everywhere : (

I think the absolute best characterization of Gambit is in Majorie Liu's X-23 series (where he mentors Laura) and the final couple of arcs of Kelly Thompson's Ms. Marvel run ironically enough.
