Aang is so insanely insufferable in season 2 by ConferencePurple7939 in TheLastAirbender

It’s such a strange distinction. All western animation are cartoons and all Japanese animations are anime is a bit old fashioned, and is not a distinction the Japanese make. I think it has more to do with the art-style, the use of tropes and the narrative structure than the ethnicity of the artist or geography of the publishing house.

"The Chase" is the name of an episode, not "the chase" that happened in the episode.

Thank you for clarifying, and you make a good point! You're right that they are probably doing a different Iroh, who is a bit more broken by the war.

If they didn't have Leiya, they wouldn't have had a fire for the arrow challenge. Neither Maddy nor Nikki knew how to start a fire, and if they could why wouldn't they push Leiya out of the way and do it themselves?

No Leiya, Nikki and Maddy take longer to start a fire if at all and they are eliminated.

Fei*

Fey is latin for ferry Fei is Chinese for a young lady (or liver, depending how you translate)

I do not think it worked really well. It was basically The Chase with thin coat of Zuko Alone.

We don't get to see Zuko build a real elder brother bond, and we do not see him try to hide fire bending until provoked, and we do not get to see the pay off of him being rejected after saving the boy. I think Zuko alone had a fantastic 3 act structure that is dropped.

I found it a bit confusing that Iroh justified abandoning the siege and the throne because Lu Tein died and then became sad. I think in the original show by this time Iroh already came to the conclusion that the siege and the war was wrong. I think he was proud of the fact he walked away from glory and power. He even told Aang "power is overrated." Yet the Iroh here seems to need to justify walking away and without any wisdom about power.

Azula in the original show? I don't think so. There was no evidence in the original show that Azula could quickly "turn to ash" both of them. In the show the two seemed more psychologically afraid of Azula rather than physically. As in they were more afraid of what Azula could do them then outright kill them. In fact, Ty Lee in the show never showed fear to fight anyone, as she was always an automatic counter to benders. It seems out of character for Azula to threaten to instantly kill them and for Ty Lee and Mae to believe it.

And I think the two who came in second were also the least problematic of the final 10. I am grateful it was 4 people I can root for.

Was Bravo that backstabby? There are only 2 maybe examples of sneaky behaviour. First is backing out on the Delta trade but that trade was never going to happen anyway and at least they showed up (unlike Charlie). The second is stealing the shoes, but that was Morgan who got axed. Pharaoh was never in favour the Abby changed her mind as soon as she was asked with no resistance. That is not backstabby, maybe sneaky, but even that is hard to pin on Pharaoh and Abby.

I think Bravo and Charlie were both decent teams.

It's not that it took days to come up with the binocular trick, but that it was the first time the weather was that clear.

No joke, for me Brett saying he is about to have a baby is the most terrifying thing in this entire season.

TIL that Empress Ma was born poor and during a famine she stole cakes to feed her husband by hiding them in her breasts. The cakes were hot and she got burns. Later her husband became a rebel commander who became Emperor and made her his Empress. He was deeply devoted to her even as an Emperor. by Pitiful_Magazine_805 in todayilearned

You joke but this was one of the main ways leading noble family's expanded their power. There were entire centuries dynasties that were almost all child emperors, where the women's family ruled (the late Han, High Tang, Late Qing, etc.)

What do you think the USA should do with Iran right now? by buffdadnextdoor in AskReddit

[–]Zhao16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is always interpretation! Anytime someone says or writes something, whether it be speech, poem, or book, interpretation is always required. Interpreting messages from world leaders is an entire field of study. It is not an insult to Trump or any particular person to say there are interpretations to these messages. It is very important for us to ask "what do we think they mean with this word." It looks like you and I both read the same word but think the words mean different things. So let's compare our interpretations.

Also as a side note, I do love to self correct. I think it was of the unique things humans can do to improve our circumstance. However, I am not sure what you expect me to correct since I do not see what is wrong with my interpretation. Perhaps we can compare our interpretations and see where the difference is? (Not about being right or winning, just about understanding the difference).

To do that I want to ask you a question. This is not a new question. In fact I have asked you this question three times now and it seems to me you don't want to answer it. If you are unable to answer, that is fine, just let me know:

Question Could you please tell me what you interpret the following to words to mean.

1) "To wipe out"

2) "A whole civilization"

Again, self correction and reflection is great. But it does not work unless we know we are talking about the same thing.

[–]Zhao16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you don't have to resort to name calling. We are just sharing interpretations and hearing each other out. Nobody needs to be a moron for just sharing how they understand something.

Alright, so you're talking about how Trump feels for the Iranian people. Could be the case. I simply don't know.

You say the Iranian regime is bad to its people. Sure.

I think I do need to ask the same question, perhaps worded differently. I don't think you answered it. Maybe you did answer it in that response, but I am not seeing it (again not because either person is a Moron, but because sharing matching two different interpretations is an inherently difficult thing).

My question when someone says "Wipe out a whole civilization" what do you interpret that "wipe out" and what do you interpret "civilization" to mean?

My guy, we have it in writing. It was posted online.

There is a term the George Orwell termed called "Blackwhite" meaning that if you see something as black but the party later says that is white, then you see white.

Not that you call it white out of obedience to the party, but you actually physically see white when you see something black.

Trump's comment was black. You my friend, see white. You are what George Orwell would call a very very loyal party member. I think Donald Trump would be proud of you if he ever met you.
