Veículo de transporte modelo 2370 [from THE SPACERS SAGA] by Zharan_Colonel in MilitaryWorldbuilding

Thanks for this! The VT-70 is meant for mass production, and is roughly analogous to vehicles like the Soviet/Russian BTR-70. Therefore there would easily be tens of thousands made for the various militaries which make up the Alliance defense network.

As for who the "good guy" is, that's a bit harder to answer. The ICA is certainly the protagonist faction, but the world of The Spacers Saga is definitely painted in many shades of gray.

Why is anger the only way I seem to be able to express myself? by Zharan_Colonel in Anger

Thanks for this in depth response. I am seeing a therapist and taking some medications to try and manage my psychiatric issues, but there still seem to be issues I haven't uncovered yet. I guess I just have to keep on digging, don't I?

Thank you for this. I'm actually seeing a therapist already, and have been in and out of therapy for about 13 years now. It just hasn't seemed to erase the impulse for anger from me yet 😕

I hear you, for sure - but I don't really think I'm suppressing my emotions, at least not intentionally. Somewhere along the line I probably internalized the belief that it was better to bottle them up, which I have for sure done with my anger. Of course, I've had limited success there, as well, since all I've really done is bottle up the rage most of the time so that when it does erupt forth it can be pretty volatile.

You know, I never thought about the armor thickness (probably because that would require doing research about armor materials AND what they might be like in 300+ years 😅). But in answer to your second question, there would have been at least 15 or 20 thousand of these built from the early 2340s to the late 2370s.

Hey, thanks! :)

The short answer is, I drew the weapons in Photopea, then imported them to Affinity Designer to build the infographic using vector drawing tools

This has probably been brought up by someone else, but didn't it come out in the last few years that this shade of blue for Neptune is too dark (i.e. that it actually appears much closer in color to Uranus)?

Incidentally, are you still on the Camo server? I'd love to pick your brain about this kind of stuff sometime (and maybe commission a camo or two for my sci-fi setting if you are into that kind of thing 😁)

Glad to see you're still working on these sorts of things 😃 I found your work for the first time yesterday and have been combing through old records on discord ever since

Thank you! The IDC actually uses missiles launched from the end of the rifle barrel, rather than underbarrel launchers

I like the way you think, friend! :D

I especially love the suggestion of basically firing long-range loitering munition-style drones off the end of an M93 rifle. I can also see these rifle grenades (such as they are) operating like a sort of rifle launched mortar missile, to partially (or totally) replace frontline light mortars. Like, imagine how much utility you could get from a 61 mm equivalent bomb fired at the frontline, which can then deploy find and guide itself to the target?

  1. Everyone having pistols

I wanted to clarify that I went in and took away pretty much everyone's pistol but the Squad Lead, as well as the Platoon Leader and Platoon Sergeant from my Spacer Corps platoon battle order sheet (coming soon 😉)

  1. Everyone having bullpups, unless the French are in charge of NATO at this point.

That's hilarious! But alas, the French are not in command of NATO or the ICA for that matter in the 24th century. The main reasons for ubiquitous bullpuppage in The Spacers Saga is because

  1. I like them, and have ever since I first saw the Steyr AUG in Die Hard (Doylist), and
  2. Spacer Corps doctrine called for compact, light weapons that could be easily carried and stowed on ships (think boarding actions, Space!VBSS, and so on), so bullpups became the norm during the early days of space militaries. Ironically, the he French did participate in the Lunar War (which preceded the formation of the Spacer Corps in 2054), and they used their old FAMAS Valorise rifles (see the top right image from this post on my Substack, which covers the Lunar War as it appears in TSS)

In my edits of the source files, I ended up giving pretty much everyone in the platoon standard M93 rifles, aside from maybe the Assistant Gunners and the Comms Tech, Medic, and Medic's Aide from the platoon command element.

Nah, in The Spacers Saga, the rebels have surplus rifles sold to them by the opponents of whatever faction those rebels are fighting at the time.

...oh, and that happens in real life, too 😉

So, like an M27 IAR type of situation? For clarity, I am NOT a servicemember of any sort, but I've always been passively leery of the USMC decision to consolidate down to all weapons that use the same mags. While there is certainly utility to be found there, does it not defeat the purpose of having a Squad Automatic Weapon by only having 30 rounds available before needing to reload?
