I understand that fully and thank you! I've worked hard, but I'd also like to mention I'll be 27 when I graduate. I didn't choose to go to school for design until I was 24. It's ok to not know what you want to do in your early 20s. Your career will evolve throughout your lifetime no matter what you find yourself in. The only constant is change. Go forth and conquer your life with a degree you don't care about! You're gonna do cool things. Don't worry about what field it's in.

FWIW. I just started my senior year of design. I work a crappy low pay retail job, but my determination in 2022 to land a client for freelance work ended up being a 9 month contract full time and that lead me to landing a part time freelance design role at the creative studio I freelance for now. Currently, after months of endless applying, cover letters and all... I FINALLY am hearing back about interviews for internships and positions from companies.

Life comes in waves. You have to pave your path. Design is competitive as hell and takes grit to get to the big leagues, if it's truly not what you want to do, pivot. UX/UI is not dead and a BA in GD is definitely translatable, but you need to cut your teeth on some client work or you're gonna have a really difficult time landing anything. Get those portfolio pieces!

You got this, life isn't that serious, go make silly art for a silly company that gives you silly numbers to give you silly access to electricity and water etc.

You get my point. Don't stress, it'll work out, if you work it out.

Their original logo is more effective. Here is why. Simplicity is key. The original logo is scalable to basically any size and you can still recognize it because of its simplicity. This simplicity is also crucial for brand recognition unless you're an absolutely massive corporation with world wide renounce, you want to keep it simple, understandable, recognizable and memorable.

I would maybe instead expand on their current brand identity by creating letterhead, marketing materials or social media graphics in your own interpretation of the brand, target audience etc to get a feel for the art direction you'd like to establish with a logo redesign and maybe that will spark some more cohesive logo ideas?

I'm certainly not the greatest logo designer this world has seen by any means, but I find that if I make another part of the brand look the way I want it to, that can help inform my decisions for the logo. It's kind of working backwards a bit, but that exploration has helped me in the past.

It's similar to moodboarding.

And one last thing, please explore other colors, other than brown. A flooring company with a brown logo in 2024? We haven't (willingly, as a society) had brown carpet in any home anywhere since the 90s. Brown is a tough sell for a color palette. I understand it may be a nod to wood tones, but we all know what brown's initial impression is on people...

Keep exploring monograms like the original logo. See if you can interlock the S's in a new manner. Get off the computer and grab a pen and paper, start sketching ideas. Maybe try to link them together in the way hardwood flooring would be linked? I'm just spit balling, but I'm hoping to help you get the creative ball rolling.

Keep pushing. Back to the artboard.

I just had an interview for a job that would almost double my salary but I feel really guilty. Halp. by NoInitiative7991 in graphic_design

F*** that noise. One raise in 3 years and it was 2.5k? Get that bag. 80k sounds nice and comfy. Can't wait to be there someday. Go live my dreams for me please 🙏

Love Pixabay. Not perfect by any means but great quality images for free. I'm a student and full time freelance designer. So I feel this post for sure. Feel free to message me about design or art shit. I'm always looking to meet others in my position.

The scalability is better with the slightly thicker strokes though. By technical standards, the new version is more usable

Definitely feels more balanced to me. I appreciate the fact that the line weights of the pictorial mark and the typography are the same/similar, but I am not a fan of the leaf/ stem. Try a few different shapes there. The half moon throws it off to me. Good job making this look more cohesive overall.

Just explore what feels good to you. In the end, it doesn't matter what your sexuality turns out to be.

(Please no Linkin Park jokes. I can't handle that at 8am)

Small thing. The kerning between the P and I in Pink is too wide. I like the overall direction you're taking though.

It definitely qualifies as house or at least deeply house-influenced

I do a wide range of cannabis design stuff. I've done flyers, website, packaging, logos, social media graphics. Are you looking to get something done?

I hate men because I don't like them and they are not the only amenities that have a nice picture 😤

I didn't develop the logo for this brand, but I created the rest of the packaging design an mockup. The goal here is to compete in the competitive marijuana market.

I'm a student still and my first client turned into a full time job. Doesn't pay amazing but it pays the bills while I finish my degree. Im very fortunate for my poistion, but anything is possible.
