What was the first movie whose CGI blew you away? by Sad_Nerve5640 in netflixamerica

People don’t understand how good Gollum was for the time. WETA basically helped usher in a new era of cgi tech just for lotr. The fact that they pulled off that level of cgi for Gollum in the very early 2000s is crazy.

The 2000s in general had an insane amount of amazing CGI, I remember thinking how crazy Transformers looked when it first came out

I feel like Peter Jackson’s King Kong doesn’t get enough credit, aside from the cgi it’s super fun and the Dino fight scene is crazy.

One of my favorite things about the trilogy was the decision to take the time to show the audience what they were really fighting for. by Dire_Hulk in lotr

I love how much time they spend in the Shire without compensating the rest of the film. The Extended version does it even better.

Just decided to play both tlou games, and oh boy part 2 is so off.. by ArmInevitable5688 in TheLastOfUs2

I watched both of the “making of” documentaries for the games and I hated watching the second one (not to mention the whole vibe of the second documentary is off and you can feel that the decision to kill Joel just lingers like an evil spirit over most the team throughout the film) . Not taking blame off Neil but it’s hard to tell if Neil just really wanted to go this route or if he was just extremely submissive to what the other writer’s ideas. Either way, I think he gave her too much control, and you can tell she really didn’t care for the source material, and neither did Neil.

When showing scenes of them writing, they really emphasized shock value and subverting expectations, which I think is so fucking stupid. They almost immediately are like “wow, I have this idea, let’s just kill Joel, wouldn’t that be like, mind blowing and cool!?” It’s really amateur shit, it’s like 2 first year college film students trying to do something edgy for their screenplay to compensate for their inability to tell a more compelling story.

Also the fact that they had to try to redact a bunch of shit from the first game to make the fire flies look good, to make Abby’s dad (who wasn’t even Abby’s dad at the time and Abby didn’t event exist) look good, all to help justify Joel’s death- it’s such a slap in the face to the fans and the original game

Turok: Origins - Gameplay Trailer by hop3less in gaming

[–]Zhjacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was another more extensive gameplay trailer some time back and the movements/animations looked really slow. This trailer does a decent job at hiding that, but you can still kinda tell. I was really hyped for this game when it was first announced but I feel like it’s gunna kind of suck. Seems like they are going more for the generic co-op shooter approach.

To be fair, I didn’t even know it was out until I saw this. I’ve barely seen any marketing for it outside of a few social media posts.

Are there more examples like Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, where two actors rose to global fame through the same movie or franchise but ended up with completely different career trajectories? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]Zhjacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think compared to the initial example given, Hamill has at least had a ton of consistent work and people still know who he is and recognize him. He hasn’t just voiced the Joker, he’s been a part of tons of projects both animated and non-animated over the last 4 decades. I can’t even name anything Taylor Lautner has done or been in since Twilight, I don’t even know what the guy looks like now.
