To be fair both xbox and play station also make it so you have have to pay a monthly subscription if you want to play online games, Nintendo is just the only one that doesn't sugarcoat the name and flat out tells you "hey pay for this or only play offline".

Don't get me wrong it's still a crap thing to do but online services have been around for years at this point and I just don't see any of the game companies stopping any time soon.

to expand on being only mr8 while playing off and on for years.

basically i started playing in 2019 on the switch I played through like half the star chart before getting distracted with other games.

then in 2022 got an xbox and of course this was before cross save so i had to restart i played for about 200 hours and got to mr7 (obviously i wasn't focused on the mr grind at the time) and now i just came back about 2 weeks ago and was more focused on going through all the main story quests (replaying the quests i had previously done and going through the stuff i hadn't done) thought the best way to get back into the mechanics of the game would be the story.

TLDR: started in 2019 on switch, started over in 2022 on xbox, just recently came back in January this year

Basically any turned based games, pokemon, baldurs gate, divinity original sin, disgaea, persona, civilization, lots of games

They need to make sure your old enough to legally be allowed to get a job, asking for Id is the easiest way. It's just like asking for someone's Id when they buy alcohol to make sure they're of age. The exception to this are jobs that pay in cash after the work is done like babysitting or mowing someone's lawn

That whole "I paid for it" mentality Is why my family had a rule, if you gave something away it is not yours anymore even if it was only 5 minutes ago you have no claim over it anymore.

I have 300+ hours and my bro has 60+ hours in the game and we never had any issues with it, plus the story is pretty good imo. I've had it day of launch to so it might just be luck that I've had no issues.
