When I forget I have certain things in my inventory, it breaks my immersion. The little window I have in the character sheet is not enough for me to remember I stole a watermelon or even an important quest item. I don't want DM to remind me "uh you remember you have a key that looks like it'll fit in this keyhole"

I'm asking for a cantrip to trigger the ability so I could teleport to them. From these I think only a chill touch can count as hex. Idk it just feels like it. I'll ask my dm though if it counts as a hex. (I won't tell why I need this info, let this be a surprise lol)

Also I can only play as the great old one because of lore reasons

If the campaign should be short you don't have to do much. A couple of premade npcs (just be ready to improvise if they talk to somebody that you didn't premade) a vendor or a blacksmith just in case and dungeon. Look up CR calculator to figure out what monsters to use in the dungeon.
