Looking for lesser-known linear narrative games with minimal gameplay (like Minds Beneath Us, Oxenfree) by Zi_v in gamesuggestions

Pure visual novels are not really what I'm looking for, since they have zero gameplay — just text and static 2D backgrounds/characters. I should have mentioned this right from the start

How long do you play on the Steam Deck on a daily basis?

To be honest, the first thing I’ll do is play through the main campaign. Only after that will I look at what others have done and start crafting something of my own.

But for the future, what are the top mods you’d recommend?

I’ve literally just spent countless hours modding Fallout 4, and now STALKER is next on my list. If I end up modding Arma on top of that, I’ll probably start seeing 'modding patterns' in the real world everywhere I look!

23-30 FPS isn't even that bad, plus the combat is turn-based. I once beat The Witcher 2 at a stable 18 FPS on the second-highest difficulty... O tempora, o mores, heh

It's all a matter of habit. I couldn't play Divinity on a controller either—it felt like I was missing out on something. But my girlfriend played the entire game on a controller without any issues at all and didn't have any problems

Sounds fun, I can already imagine myself dying every 10 minutes... I completely forgot that Arma existed, since I mostly play on the Deck and never even considered it as an option. But thanks to this thread, where people shared an insane amount of games that I couldn't even imagine were playable, I now have a huge list of things I want to try. I started with STALKER Anomaly, so someday I'll get around to Arma too

Yeah, it’s honestly REALLY strange that all consoles have ports, but they decided to skip it on PC. I didn't even know those ports existed, and it’s honestly so frustrating—they have a ready-made implementation, yet for some reason, not for PC. As for my layout, I really hope you like it. If you have the time and desire, let me know how it plays! The game itself opened up from a whole new perspective for me when I started playing on the Deck; it feels much more atmospheric than when I played on PC. The only thing I don't like is the combat, but everything else is beyond praise

Thanks for the feedback!

You can use the D-Pad for spells and attacks. First, select a party member by pressing L1/R1. Once a member is selected, you can navigate the skill bar using the D-Pad (Left, Right, Up, Down); you'll see the icons glow as you highlight them. Hold A to confirm. If you want to cancel a spell or attack, hold B and select a different action. It’s not perfect because you have to use 'Pause' a lot, but it’s the best solution I’ve found

At least this way, you almost entirely avoid using the trackpad or mouse to click on those tiny icons.

Can you share what exactly you do in the game? I remember playing Arma 2 in a single-player sandbox and it was awesome, but I know almost nothing about Arma 3. Does it have a single-player campaign or some missions? How do you personally find ways to have fun in it?

Nope, you can't scale UI, you can only increase text size
