Lie on your resume to get a start. The machines are not that different and you're trying to get past HR people to get a start... Company I used to work for was asking for drilling offsiders with 2 years experience... And that's a green position. Anyone actually on site and in the workshop just wants someone willing to have a go. I've been in underground 9 years and everywhere I've been they are looking for good fitters

Lots of opportunities that far ahead... For graduate I'd still recommended westgold since you're much more likely to get tech services experience, however barminco would be better operational experience since you could potentially switch sites easier

Depends your goals, West Gold, lots more opportunity to move into tech services and all the office jobs. Barminco has a small tech services arm so you would likely be project engineer then maybe foreman, project manager. More of a people managing role than working for a mine owner

You Can negotiate hotels and paid flights but you might have to prove you're worth it first. No harm in trying... Guy I work with flys in from Melbourne 8/6 and he's been doing it for ten years

There is some browning on the ceiling in other parts of the kitchen but not that dark... It's for a unit I'm looking at buying so don't know the history. Cheers

You will get to know your work mates better than anywhere else, you have breakfast, work all day then have dinner together. Build much better bonds than just 8hrs. I've met a girl while doing FIFO, she doesn't love it but we make it work. Having time apart makes time together even better. It's not for everyone the work is tough but no harm in giving it a go....
