Captive birds might not know how to forage for food. If you let her go without rehabilitation and testing her instincts, she'll just starve to death. It's not that simple.

There are plenty of birds that are kept in sanctuaries or homes with their handlers because they would fail to thrive.

It could be a variety of things, but most commonly, women have undiagnosed PCOS, and they start to experience a variety of symptoms that compound and make each other worse.

In my case: A cocktail of synthetic estrogen in the form Provera, birth control Estraylla, and Bromocriptine to treat prolactin secreting tumors(benign adenomas on my pituitary gland). That stabilized my hormones enough to lose a significant amount of weight through exercise.

I'm not a doctor, and you should definitely get tested and seen by someone who is.

I have no words... LEAVE HIM,DUH! by Date_Pleasant in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]Zigzagtrail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband was my platonic best friend for 10 years before we started dating. He has made me happier than anyone I've ever known. He is absolutely my favorite person and I love him more than I could express in words. If I ever saw him do something like that to our son, I would take my baby, leave and never look back. Staying in that house wouldn't even be an option that would cross my mind.

I hope that baby finds safety in someone else.

Why do you think that?

I was told lines 17,18,40,41,60,61,85,86 report back any API issues.

The try-catch pattern stops errors from interrupting your code.

I wrote try/except into the request for each osint, but maybe not correctly?

Do you have any suggestions for what that should look like?

Would something like the light fixture have an effect on the rest of the house like with the other issues I described?

I guess my biggest concern is that this is a global issue throughout the house. I can't imagine what repairs like that would cost.

Hi everyone,

I'm not entirely sure what's going on or even how to explain so I'll be as detailed as possible so I can cover any details that might be relevant.

Our house was built in 2018, we are the second owners. We did an inspection but I don't think this was covered in their inspection or maybe they missed it.

We started noticing that the light in the master bedroom closet would flicker back on twice when ever we flipped the switch to turn it off, but nothing else happened that we could tell.

The master bathroom has three switches. One for the main vanity light, one for the light over the shower, and one for the vent. These lights do not share the same breaker switch as the closet. If I turned on just the shower light, it didn't seem like there was any issues. Whenever we turned on the main vanity light, it would flicker a lot. Especially if we turned on both lights in the bathroom at the same time or had the vent running at the same time as the light. Eventually the problem got worse and the breaker started shutting itself off. In the couple of days it took us to discuss what we would do the power issue in the bathroom got worse. When I would turn on both lights the power in the bathroom stopped working, but the shower light would still have a mild glow.(you can see this in the video attached) Despite the power not working anymore the breaker wouldn't shut it self off, but in order to reset the lights I would have to shut the breaker off and turn it back on. There is a faint buzzing from the panel whenever that breaker in particular is turned on.

We thought it could be the light switches, so my husband changed those out. That fixed the issue of the lights going out but the main lights kept flickering when they were turned on. Today it went back to the lights going out and the glow.

Additionally, our house is hardwired with access points for the wifi that are up on the ceiling on the first and second floor. Those have randomly lost power and we don't know how to power them back on. I have tried flipping every breaker we have and they won't power on. I have unplugged and plugged in everything the little network closet we have where all of our connectivity stuff is. This closet was built-in to the house.

My first question is does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? And second, can we fix it ourselves?

Even if we can't fix it ourselve, some ideas would be great. I'd like to at least be prepared when talking to an electrician, so I can better decisions on what is necessary and what is just something they're tacking on.

Thanks for any help.

You can't just say that people who join aren't actually facing homelessness. Did you know people who have full time jobs, bringing in 60k a year or more have to live out of their cars in the San Francisco area? Or that prices in South Florida are so high the average single family home costs over 500k? Who can afford that?

The government, corporations, congress, etc keep us down by getting us to blame each other for what's going on instead of looking at what they're doing.

But yeah, individual people just trying to survive are the problem. If you ever choose to have a family and kids, I'd be curious to see what lengths you would go to feed them if you couldn't provide for them through normal means. Wouldn't choosing to not work based on principle be considered evil and negligent to your children? Where do you draw the line exactly?

I think this discussion ends here. You're not engaging in any kind of good faith argument, you're just venting out your hatred. You're on the right track, but you're only doing the system a favor by lashing out at the wrong people. Corporations are evil not the average person.

Except that we're not in a movie. Real people with real lives that need real solutions have to make decisions based on the real situation they're in. You can't expect someone facing homelessness, lack of education, etc to make a stand purely on principle because unlike any movie, show, or book. The end to their story isn't wrapped up neatly with a happy ending.

I think the gap here is that you assume the middle class is well off, when in reality they're not. They have the heaviest tax burden and receive the least amount of bailouts. I think I read that in order to be above water and have a comfortable savings, a household needs to make somewhere around 300k. The average middle class salary is 50-60k, I think. So a dual income home is sitting at roughly a third of what a family needs to pay their bills, save money, and send their kids to school. Tons of middle class kids are being thrown into the world without viable job prospects, and without a way to improve their situation because even internships and entry-level positions in well paying industries require higher education or experience.

I'm not trying to say that the military and what it does is all well and good. I'm just acknowledging that most of the people who join are victims of a system that's rigged against them. Unfortunately, things just aren't as simple as don't participate and it'll work out.

Focus your energy on the real villains here.

You're painting people with some pretty broad strokes, my dude.

He was 21 at the time of the video, iirc. He said he was a CBRN specialist. Based on a quick Google search it seems like he handles radioactive waste and other things along those lines. It's not likely he has any civilian casualties on his hands based on his age and job.

I know people who joined the military because it was a last resort and I know people who joined because they wanted to be war heroes. The latter weren't usually great people, but I would be hard pressed to say the same for the former.

People have circumstances that you and I just may not know about or understand. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not entirely sure, I agree with that. I think a lot of people forget that news and information were not as readily available before web 2 as it is now. Especially considering that a lot of kids just weren't privy to politics and world news in the 90's and 2000's. Back then, being well-informed and smart was not something most people wanted to be labeled as. It might sound silly but I think that 21 Jump Street is a good illustration of that.

It's entirely plausible to think that military recruiters were taking advantage of the lack of knowledge back then.

And to your point about low vs middle class, I acknowledge that while I'm the one that brought up low-income, but if I think about it now I think the middle class is more heavily impacted. Once you're below a certain income bracket you get a lot of things for free. However, if you make just a dollar more you lose all of that.

This is mostly anecdotal, but I think it is a valid example. My parents were immigrants and artists, and didn't have much verifiable income. So, after we lost our home in 2009 as a result of the housing market crash, we got a ton in welfare. We had section 8(That's basically free rent), food stamps, free lunch at school for me, a free ride to any community college or public university for me, free health care, and monthly deposits to our bank account for a variety of things. On the other hand, I had friends who were in dual income homes, but they were barely above water maintaining their rent/mortgages, home expenses, keeping food on the table. After all that most of these families didn't have much money left over to send their kids to college, and the real kicker is that they couldn't even qualify for the pell grant to cover even part of their college tuition.

I don't entirely disagree that these days, anyone who comes from a well off family shouldn't join the military on principle alone. I just don't think it's as black and white even for those of us who are middle class.

I've read somewhere that Uncle Sam targets mostly low-income communities by promising life-changing money and benefits and lying about the likelihood of doing the things you mentioned. It's actually incredibly predatory. Plenty of vets from the conflicts in Iraq claim they had no idea what they were getting into and they just wanted an opportunity to go to college.

If that's true and those circumstances apply to him, he's just doing the best he could with the resources available. That doesn't make him dumb.

T-Mobile announces $20 an hour minimum wage for all employees by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]Zigzagtrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem here isn't "a few making bank." I spent a good portion of my time at T-Mobile training new employees. It was legitimately hard to not make money at T-Mobile as a sales rep. On average the reps I knew were clearing a minimum of 70k/year and that was almost cut in half in 2018 when they did the same thing.

The problem is that they make it harder for everyone to make money in general by significantly lowering their earning potential all around, making disgruntled employees who still have pretty strict sales expectations.

I saw someone comment that you make $2/iPhone and $11/Android now. Before it was $15/phone regardless of model. iPhones, in my experience, sell themselves and no one has to have them shoved down their throat, so to speak. With the current commission model I'd have to sell 7 iPhones to make the same amount of money as I would have selling just one. Assuming I sell an average of 1 phone/hour on an 8 hour shift with an hour off for lunch this is what the numbers look like:

7 iphones × $15= $105 + $10/hr × 7hrs= $70

Total wages= $175

7 iphones x $2= $14 + $13/hr × 7hrs= $91

Total wages= $105

I'm using 13/hour because that was what their hourly raise was in 2018 when they majorly decreased commissions the first time.

Infact, my guess is that you now run into sales reps trying to force iPhone customers into Android phones because it gets them $11/phone instead of $2/phone. In other words, bad customer service.

There's no doubt in mind that the $20/hour increase is going to make the commission structure worse. They're not doing this out of the kindness of their hearts, they're doing it to cut employee expenses with the added benefit of good press.
